You see? Right there is how you do it.

You want changes in the business you get right in there and chage it from the inside/out not the other way round.

Good for Anna. And why shouldnt she run for politics? John Stagliano was doing this for years too....Politics...Not a lib/dem candidate ...Der!

Good luck to her. I wouldn't normally vote libdem but if I lived in gravesend I would now. As one eyed jack says that is how you change things. Part one the legalising of mail order r18 within britain? Part two reducing the cost of a sex shop license?

Whoa m100, lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here, but yes you are right.

It is a possibility OR she could turn her back right on porn and become an MP and a future Prime Minister!

Fair play to Anna though. it shows that people shouldnt use porn as an excuse not to further themselves in life.

I always said porn was a back door way into a much larger world...Well maybe not here but I have said it often enough

Why is she wasting her time standing for the Lib Dems in a seat they have no hope of winning?

Good luck to her if she is really serious about politics (as I guess she is, as she will have known her candidature will have drawn this sort of publicity) but she is on a hiding to nothing fighting as a third party candidate in a very tight Labour/Conservative marginal.

This time, Gravesham will probably go quite safely to the Tories (not something I personally will be too happy about, but there we are.) Anna seems great - better luck, with a better seat next time.

Have you read the readers' comments at the bottom? Typically open-minded stuff you would expect from Mail readers LOL

Good luck to Anna

In reply to Richard B... maybe if you knew even the smallest thing about politics you'd know that you don't really get to choose which constituency you'll fight for. A prospective candidate will apply, and then a long drawn out process of the local party activists meeting the prospective candidates, interviewing them and finally voting for the one they want as their candidate ensues. Normally someone with a strong local link will be chosen. It's only really "high flyers" who get "parachuted in" to "safe" seats by the national party machine. If you read the article it said Anna was chosen by the local party because of her strong family links to the area. Had she applied to stand in a safer seat elsewhere, she may not have been chosen at all due to her lack of local roots.

I'm always optimistic - you never know what can happen with a private members bill, dress it up as helping the economy and away you go. Even if Anna doesn't get elected this time if she gets very close then she'll get a shot at a more realistic seat that's the way it often works. I can't imagine that she'll suddenly disown her past. Anna's always seemed more than capable of arguing the case for when faced with detractors and let's face it the daily mail will have a go at anyone who's not a tory particularly in the current tabloid moral crusade frenzy. The daily mail know that despite Brown/labours shortcomings they've got a large majority which it is unlikely can be turned around in one election and so the right wing press are prepared to throw whatever help they can in the tories direction as they will need all the help they can get just to get it to an unworkable majority or a hung parliament.

Good luck to Anna and i hope that she does eventually make it as an MP, in the meantime all this publicity would have done her film sales no harm !wink!

She says in the article on the BBC site that standing as an MP has nothing to do with her former career. She's not going in there to fight for porn, she's trying to get elected as a proper politician.
