photoshop questions - shadows?

Not sure if shadow is the word, but how do i make a photo like this one? I have c4. I want to make my pic like the girl on the right, transparent.



and 2nd one, more or less the same, except done on white.




If you have links to youtube videos , then it will be easer to learn that way watching the video). I have searched transparent shadows etc, but not what i'm looking for. I'm probably searching the wrong term!

There's probably a super clever way to do it, but a simple way is to open your image duplicate the layer, change the opacity of that layer until you get the amount of fade you want and move it around a bit until it's where you want to be.

Try the blending mode on the layer tab.... overlay works well...

Also the "experts" use the pen tool to remove area not required..

also ctrl + t (on windows) to enter transform mode is you wish to manipulate the image. finally you can use liquify or filters-blade correction (both on the new layer) to manipulate the look or the axis of the image
