Cameron's Big Society

Cameron's big idea in his manifesto is to replace the Big State with the Big Society in which we, the people can join the government of Britain and get involved in starting up schools, running libraries, running health services and sacking chief constables.

Apparently people are really getting into this. Someone has offered to start up a school in their shed, another to be the street firefighter because they have a hosepipe. Apparently there is a campaign to get a 1000 extra policemen for Wigan using the slogan "Yes, Wi gan" as a rallying cry.

Personally I have decided that if I need to have another hernia repair job, I am going to have a go at doing it myself. Hey, it cuts back on waste.

Have forumites got any spiffo ideas about how they can respond to Cameron's invite to join the government of Britain and run things?

Cheers
D

It doesn't stack up. He wants to acquire power in order to re-distribute it ? As the Clash put it in White Riot 'All the power is in the hands of the people rich enough to buy it'. They haven't really re-distributed wealth, nor will they re-distribute power, so i'd say Dave's bluffing.
