"It's not up to Nick."
Really? So collective responsibility with regard to the timing of the cuts has gone out of the window has it?
"Do I think that these big, big cuts are merited or justified at a time when the economy is struggling to get to its feet? Clearly not. Of course I would vote against cuts which would destroy any chance we would have of having a sustainable recovery." Nick Clegg to Jeremy Paxman re. the Tory planned 6 billion cuts in 2010 his party have just accepted in full as part of the Lib Dem Con coalition.
Cheers

"It's not up to Nick."
Is that going to be the totality of your defence of Clegg in the next 5 years?
If not, maybe you could explain in slightly more detail?

I don't like the cuts as they are and I wasn't defending Clegg. I'm just not blaming Clegg either.
Again, for the slow ones: It's not up to Clegg.
Yes it is

He could have refused to sign up to the cuts in the negotiations that formed the coalition, but he was so impressed with the idea of being deputy PM and playing at being a real politician that he dropped his pants and bent over for them.
He's been rich for a very long time

And got richer off the system in Europe by claiming full expenses for a house he already owned...
He's from the same sort of background as the likes of Cameron. If you cut the top of his head off he'd have TORY written in a little arc in his noggin, just like a stick of rock.
