The Yanks are now taking football seariously, well as far as using it to promote porn they are.. i wonder how many British porn sites are using this present World Cup frenzy to their advantage !wink!!footie!

Soccer will NEVER take off in the States for the simple reason it is a game of 2 x 45 minute halves. The Yank TV stations will NEVER allow it as they cannot split it up into 5 minute sections for 2 minute adverts.
In their football the bastards stop every 2 fucking minutes for a breather. Alas, our Canadian cousins are not much better at soccer, but, they have Ice Hockey which is a fucking killer so I excuse them.

20 million people in the USA watched the live broadcasting of USA v Ghana in the World Cup last Saturday.
It was available on ABC, one of the big 3 networks.
For a comparison, the 5 matches in the basketball (NBA) final had audiences of 14.1m, 15.7m, 16.0m, 16.4m and 18.2m.

Baseball will always be the National game in the U.S. but will never become International the same as Football, ie: Soccer and the big money is now in International sports, the U.S. will now strive to be the best nation at football, they want to win the next World Cup, it will take their minds away from the Afghan war.
