Major 3D porn film in production.

I'm not sure if this is old news to everyone here, as I've been abroad alot, but I'll ask the question anyway:

Does anyone think there is a future in hard-core 3D porn? I hate to say "No" to any new technology, as mostly, you live to regret it. Well apart from the Sinclair C5!

A classic example of this was my old video rental shop a few years ago STILL had VHS tapes on his shelves, when asked why, the owner would say, "Oh DVD's will never catch on!" His shop is now boarded up and has a resident drunk living in the doorway, who shouts at passers-by (he looks a little like the owner!)

Anyway, my personal view is just like in feature films, it wont matter whether it's 3D Porn or not, it wont make a shite film, "Good".

What does the panel think?

Also the idea of being one of this lot wanking in a cinema is quite amusing!

So far all mainstream 3D films have been shite... how Avatar got so many awards is beyond me. For me 3D didn't hide a one-dimensional plot and poor acting. It was a truly atrocious film... yet millions of people were conned into thinking it was a great film just because it "looked so good". If this 3D porn film is being made in 3D just "because we can" then I doubt it'll be worth watching.

3D has been around in the cinema for over 50 years and every now and then we get a raft of new films done in 3D, but it's never really caught on, and until a great film (ie one with a great narrative and great acting) happens to also be done in 3D, which enhances the film above and beyond a 2D version, 3D will never really catch on. It's a great marketing ploy for studios to sell crap films to a multitude of gullible morons, but 3D will never hide the fact that a crap film is a crap film... and Avatar was one of the worst films ever made!

Call me old fashioned, but most photographs look better in black and white than in colour and I'll stick to 2D for my cinema and TV viewing experiences thank you very much.

And before any of you accuse me of being a ludite, I was using home computers in the late 70s, had internet access in the early 80s (along with a brick of a "mobile" phone). I'm as open to new technology as the next person... but 3D??? You have to be joking!!!!

The idea of some gentlemans private parts thrusting into your face in full 3d doesnt sound to appealling to me, altough i imagine there is a demogrophic for this prospect.

WHOA! BOB! My eyes burst into flames from reading the heresy you speak!

I love Avatar!

Fair play man. You didnt

But I do agree that James Cameron may have spearheaded a glut of new movies that are goingto capitalise on it without improving that basic thing that makes a movie interesting; story and good acting

Case in point: The new Resident Evil Afterlife. It blatantly states in its trailer as utilising the camera system that Cameron used in Avatar!

Who really cares about that! its still 3D!

3D porn is inevitable but the problem I see is that your average wanker likes to keep things simple. Heaven help us should we actually be turned on and in need of instant relief then have to contend with typing a credit card in, one hand on the mouse, wear those glasses and still maintain an erection to have a decent wank.

The novelty of it will really wear thin very fast.

Having said that, the future may well be all 3D porn in 10 years time. Technology is certainly moving that fast but for all the science we have at our disposal the most enduring stories, movies and what not were created before it and had to be good because it lacked the technical excellence we take for granted these days.

I think holographic porn, where you have some kind of physical-sensory connection with the character in the hologram will be the true revolution in the experience of porn. Maybe you will be able to draw down characters from a menu, that you'd like to shag, don your suit on and hey presto, you have a virtual experience of shagging Cheryl Cole or maybe The Queen? (They would have to do some antics in front of a blue screen first of course LOL)

Lets just hope Sir Clive Sinclair doesn't design the suit!!happy!

It wasn't just a case of not liking it... without the 3D the film was pointless, with the 3D the film was STILL pointless! So why make it, other than to say "look how clever I am"? And until someone makes a film that has a good story and good acting that happens to also be in 3D we'll continue getting crap like Avatar in our cinemas and other people spending fortunes on the 3D technology that would be better employed on decent script writers, film editors and actors!

Of course there was a story Bob and that is trivialising the years of effort Cameron put into the movie really.

I've got the movie on dvd and even the missus thinks it looks like a good just from the bits she saw

It should be. its basically Dances With Wolves on another planet. And that movie was great too.

Avatar was beautiful to look at and Im going to see it again on its re-issue at The Imax

Anyway Im just being defensive because I really did enjoy it. I respect you don't like it so i wont bang on about it !happy!

I hate to say it but I think 3D has the potential to be bigger in porn in the long run than in mainstream Hollywood entertainment. Most of it would, of course, be shite but someone with the talent and style of a Jules Jordan could do great stuff with it and really raise the horn factor. Most porn is about objectification. Why not turn that object -- which is the ONLY object on the screen that the viewer's bothered with, as compared to in a Hollywood movie -- from two dimensions into three? Porn operates under very unique rules compared to other stuff. 3D makes sense with it in a way that I don't think it necessarily does elsewhere.

I think you are right Andy.

I think it could be a mainstay if they could lose the glasses aspect to watching it.

Most guys having a sneaky wank will find it awkward explaining if they are caught in a darkened room watching tv on their computer !laugh!
