Some of you know I live a sheltered existence in E. Europe and visit the UK
but rarely....
I popped over the other day. So reassuring to see that summer in Blighty
is the same as ever - shite weather, all the menial jobs done by Poles as the
chavs, I guess, are all off on their hols in Spain on that lovely dole money....
Anyway, I am toddling down the Tottenham Court Road, eyeing all those
wizard gizmos and computer stuff we expect to have in E.Europe 5 years after
you lucky lot - and bang, I am pleasantly accosted by a young lady from the
RSPCA asking for a donation + all my details (email, address, credit card, home
and mobile numbers). I decline.
Two secs later I am accosted again by some bloke representing some childrens` charity. Further on a third asking for the same slew of personal info. God, its not even Xmas yet, but why this demand on all my personal info !!!
I do not mind giving but I object to giving out willy-nilly all my personal info....
But then , in dear old John Lewis, the same nonsense just to buy some
cushions...."Sorry sir, but its just so we can keep in touch with our customers !"
So, folks, can I ask - Are you all happy in Britain giving out this information ?
Have any of you suffered identity theft lately ?

No, I don't give out info, and yes, I've been a victim of ID theft, someone managed to get through the credit card security check, change my address and get a new card and PIN sent to the new address, running up over ?20k before the CC company twigged 'suspicious activity'.

Yep and with all this info being sold on its no wonder the hackers have got all your details already and all they need now is access to your computer to get access to your bank detials.
So much for the data protection act!
Gullible folk take note: There is no one from any computer firm anywhere that knows of a virus going on in your computer unles they put it there.
Anyone got that call from the nice indian man who knows your name when he calls you, knows where you live to tell you there is a computer virus attacking computers in your area?
This nice indian man is slo frickin obvious when he goes on about it being a nice day.
Yeah nice day to fleece some poor sap out of his lifes earnings!
You can bet I strung this fucker out before he put the phone down on me.
Usually when, "whats the company you work for mate?"
Click!
Shame cos I was going to hit on him for gay sex and ask if he liked being fisted in the arse but we never got that far.

I've had that, but he sounded Nigerian to me. He hung up at exactly the same point.
There's also someone, probably the same one, who offers to register you for ever on the (FREE) Telephone Preference Service for a one-off fee. Probably direct from your bank account to his, but I didn't let him get that far.
There's an Indian guy who calls himself Alvin who kindly wants to make sure you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to.
And on, and on...

I tell em to fuck off as I do not consider that they need any of my personal details. Also, and this is the thing, I don't buy anything than from a shop that sells what I want to buy, and I do not give them my personal details. None of the fuckers has refused to sell me what I want for declining to give them my details yet.
Just stand up to the twatts and tell em to fuck off.
