It looks like Glasgow should have been awarded the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The Delhi Games are shaping up to be a disaster with building works collapsing and filthy accommodation etc.

Maybe they'll fix it in time, but if I was still world farnarkling champion, I'd be thinking twice about going.

Cannot believe any of our top athletes could even consider going to Delhi. I can imagine half the competitors being sidelined by food poisoning or some other hygiene issue. Whole thing is a national embarassment to India.

I was actually hoping that India would pull this off (they still might!) and show China that they aren't far behind. At least India's problems are reported in a free press. China would simply pretend "everybody happy" and execute anyone responsible.

The Chinese method of topping miscreants aint such a bad idea I think. I bet it concentrates the minds of those responsible if any disasters happen.

It's interesting to note that the head of the Commonwealth, the Queen, who has previously attended all the other Commonwealth Games opening ceremonies (during her reign), is not attending these Games. This was officially announced many months ago. Apparently Her Majesty can not attend due to a "busy schedule". !wink!
