Bruno, the movie...

This is the latest 'film' starring Sasha Baron Cohen. He plays a gay Austrian fashion guru and, like the film 'Borat' before it, most of the scenes involve unsuspecting real-life people being embarassed and shown up - and having no idea the footage would end up in a film that would be shown in thousands of cinemas around the world and later be immortalised on DVD.

All I can say is this is one of the most disgusting films I have ever seen. How it got past the censors I will never know! There are scenes of him arse-fucking gay dwarfs - the penetration is blacked out - a gay dwarf being done up the arse with dildo machines, and so on. It is hideous!

The scene where he is interviewing some celebrity PR person in America, and going through ante-natal photos of unborn children and saying "this baby probably wont be much use as a celebrity accessory because its hands are too big, therefore should be aborted" is one of the sickest, most disturbing things I think I've ever seen in a film in my life!

I nearly stopped watching it on several occasions. Sasha Baron Cohen is not a 'character actor' as sometimes described, but a sick weirdo who has no place in modern society. Anyone else see this film, and what did you think? What do you think of this freak, Sasha Baron Cohen, in general? I bought this film yesterday, an ex-rental for ?3.00 in Blockbusters. I am throwing it in the dustbin today.

I got the impression he had to 'out-do' Borat for shock value and came up with this bilge.
Agreed, its dire, and makes 'Ali G in da house' look Oscar material by comparrison!

And the real issue is people think he is a comic genius. I find him totally unwatchable.

Agree. I hate seeing unsuspecting people made the butt of jokes and Cohen seems to specialise in this. I bet if someone set Cohen up for some public humiliation he'd have his lawyers onto them in a flash because "that's not funny".

As with much of Cohen's alleged humour, many of the stunts were faked - the gay baby/talk show part entirely so. But the point is he wants you to think it's real. Another aspect of fooling people, and another aspect of Cohen's public school superiority perhaps.

Yes, there is something faintly disturbing about about someone's seemingly genuine humiliation presented as mere entertainment. I suppose underneath it works like a bully. People laugh along with it (or pretend to) in order not to be its target.

Max, you crack me up! The mere fact that it disgusted you now makes it even funnier. I might give it another watch later.

You say he's talentless but could you pass off as a overly camp gay Austrian with a fetish for dwarf sex?

You a Tory Politician Max?
Portesting out loud about a gay spoof movie whist visiting porn sites in the comfort of your bedroom.
Your reaction has made a funny film even funnier.

He said in an interview that he wanted to make Bruno funnier than Borat. There is nothing funny about either, just awkward situations where people are shown-up, and where is the humour in that? It's like Jeremy Beadle multiplied by 1000.
