the only real way to cover your tracks is to use a disc scrubber.

disk cleaners only 'clean' your disc - the information is still there until it is written over with something else. a disk scrubber will erase your tracks and then write over them with random 1's and 0's thus scrubbing your hard drive so that even the FBI cannot recover information from your browsing habits on your pc.

search on google for 'evidence eliminator'

actually, there is NOTHING that can't be recovered from your hard disk, no matter what software you use - including 'evidence eliminator' and the like. the only sure fire way of protecting your privacy is to physically destroy the hard disk itself.

unless you're suspected of doing something very naughty indeed though, most potential snoopers are unlikely to have the tools at their disposal to unearth data that has been scrubbed. at least, that's how things stand for now but if the forensic technology becomes cheaper and more available...

One of the best is said to be Eraser, available as a free DL from download.com (Cnet).
