Has anyone seen a good British movie recently?

I noticed the Cameroon and his side-kick Gloggie have smashed the massive grant given to the British film industry.

But has anyone actually scene a GOOD British movie in recent times? I have just seen "The Infidel" which was as funny as looking at wood chip wallpaper and "Four Lions" was just as bad.

All the reviews in the papers were hysterical, "Medics had to be called to sew up my split sides!" The Guardian, "So funny, that I choked to death on my own vomit and had to be revived with CPR!" The Telegraph. "I laughed so much that I soaked the cinema carpet with hot urine!! The Times. "So hysterical I had to be injected with Diazepam by medics whilst I ran around the street screaming!" The Mirror

Then there was "Ghost Town" possibly the most SHITE film I've ever seen.

Can anyone suggest anything good to rent from Blockbuster?

Anything by Shane Meadows !! "Dead Man's Shoes" or even "Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee"..............Paddy Considine is in my mind one of the best british actors around !!

I saw "Made in Dagenham" at the weekend, I can recommend that very highly.

Sally Hawkins and Bob Hoskins are reaaly good in it.

I saw "The Illusionist" the other week (made in Scotland if that counts).

Again a film I enjoyed, but an animation so it will depend on your tastes.

Just seen the comment about The Illusionist on IMDB.

"The pawnbroker's shop is called "Brown and Blair", a clear reference to the last two Labour Prime Ministers of the UK."

That's got to be the film fot you Jim!

I've seen The Infidel. Funny movie.
Dead Cert. Some British gangster/vampire flick. (OK!)

Danny Dyer's movies like The Last Seven (That was crap!)
Basement (That was crap!)
Dead Man Running (That was good!)
Pimp (That was awfully shit!)
Nuff said!

In the Loop (Definate must-see. Funny as fuck!)

One of my favourite British movies has got to be John Boormans Hope and Glory...Last Orders with Bob Hoskins and Michael Caine was good and of course more up to date and definitely up Jims alley would be Harry Brown wiv Michael Caine (an old geezer wiv emphysema being an unwitting Charles Bronson on some hoodies on his estate)

If you want to be highly entertained I would suggest Kick Ass (produced by the same bloke who did Harry Brown and susprisingly wickedly funny despite a naff looking poster)
