Apart from his rather sad religious diversion of the 80s, probably one of the most important figures in popular music.

Bob has a high "marmite" factor, you either get him or you don't. Given that those who "get it" are in the minority of the population I would have to say that he is vastly under rated as both a performer and song writer.
Even if I didn't think he was greatpersonally I would still have to respect his standing with many other musicians who's work I admire and respect.
So yes Happy Birthday Bob and many more of them.
