I think not so long ago on this forum I recall a regular contributor, perhaps
Jim or David, or both, writing Britain off as a third rate power.....Yet I see
the Global Financial Centres Index has listed London as "by far the most
economically influential and powerful city in the world...", the same source
putting New York in 3rd place ! I do wish you guys would realise that you
live in a great country, a far from perfect place, but a bloodyt sight better
than much of this planet !

Frank,
I think you should be addressing this point to Jim alone, not me.
This is Jim's view.

This was my view in reply.

I have always been against the Tory view that we were on the point of total economic collapse in 2008, and it is only by throwing hundreds of thousands of people out of work and slashing public services that we can survive as a country. I have stated many times that we are not potentially like Greece, whatever Osborne says.
Cheers

Of course the Uk is great if youre sitting at the top of the chain or maybe a nice sharp elbowed middle class person (but of course we are all middle class now arent we?) but if your the majority of the country living from hand to mouth you wont get anywhere near all the stuff that mak sit so great place to live.
By the way ar ewe the only country that has "working poor" as when i grew up up i never remember that ever exsisting only until the last few years.

We have a country where ignorant splitarses believe they are not working class because they are unemployed. For fucks sake, what a situation. I despair, I really do.

Then Mr Thring, why do you not leave Budapest and re-settle here? I'll even arrange a welcoming committee at Gatwick Airport for you!!Y ou are sounding like one of those "Whinging Poms" in Australia, who love reminiscing about the "Old country" but wouldn't be seen dead ever moving back here!
We can discuss the topic of "How wonderful life is in Tory Britain" next time I'm in Budapest, sipping cocktails by the Danube, watching the girls go by, whilst they wear next to nothing and blow us kisses! LOL
