The politics of Good Cop/ Bad Cop

Post by jimslip »

As everyone is probably aware, I am of the opinion that our political system is fundamentally corrupt. As someone else remarked on here, we are simply witnesses to a stage managed soap opera that is Parliament.

Think about it, on the one hand we have, "Good Cop" New Labour, they get in and throw money at schools, NHS, etc etc everyone spends like crazy and finally we are all told, "You've been very bad children, now you must elect, "Bad Cop" ie The Tories to bring you all in to line.

We then have a couple of terms of, "Bad cop", cutting everything, pensions, benefits, anything that fits within their own narrow political remit. Eventually everyone gets fed up and re-elects, "Good Cop"

"Good Cop" gets back in and starts to squander and continues behaving within their own narrow remit and so it goes on.

Can anyone see a pattern emerging?

What you have to ask yourself is this, during the last 2 decades of Good cop/ bad cop, what have been the ramifications for the very rich and powerful?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL!

Except, they have continued to get richer and gain even more power, regardless of what party has been in power.

Then ask your self this. What have been the ramifications for the banks, bankers and financial institutions after having presided over the biggest financial disaster since 1929. A disaster of their making and that has resulted in millions throughout the World losing their jobs, pensions, businesses and so on?

ABSOLUTELY NONE WHATSOEVER.

After having in effect had the wealth of our country (That's tax that people like you and I have paid) handed to them with less restrictions than you would have, borrowing ?500 to buy a car., they are still paying themselves enormous bonuses and acting as if it's, "Business as usual.". In other words it was an International Banking scam. No different to the ones you see on Watchdog, except this was worth $Billions and was aided and abetted by governments, who didn't have the balls to take these crooks on.

This is why I have no time for political zealots of ANY persuasion lecturing me on the merits of whatever party they support. We are but an audience of a play acted out in front of us in the guise of, Democracy" to keep us occupied whilst the real power and wealth in the country is continued to be corralled by the top 1% helped by the elected sheep in both parties.

Have a read describing the scam in action in the USA to the tune of $750 Billion, yes, the Yanks had to find $750 Billion in a week otherwise we "were all doomed".

Again what were the ramifications of all this for the US banks?

FUCK ALL!!!

Watch out in 10/ 15 years time when they do it all over again!

Read your link Jim...then went to the Economist which I tend to trust.
I think you need to be careful. Both you and I could be accused of
stereotyping people and over-simplifying situations, but such
generalisations can be dangerous. Especially so in the world of economics.
I know you have not been taking the valium I prescribed for your paranoia
- from Bin Laden safe and sound, to secret cabals destroying the Twin
Towers to evil world bankers controlling us all - but try to put things into
perspective.
Yes, we are all at the mercy to some degree of multi-national
corporations but modern technology - a technology you yourself
embrace - means that we live in a global village. Yes, banks are and have
always been greedy in so far as they care more about their share-holders
than the common man.
But different economic factors affect different countries. The USA, for
instance, if it wishes to stay top dog, must reduce its national debt. The
US Govt botox the figs but, according to The Economist, if this were
measured the same way as in Europe, the US public debt stands at 92%
of GDP. That means they are in the same economic mess as Portugal !!
To blame this all on the banks smacks of Hitler blaming Germany`s ills on
the Jews !!

What is so wrong, Mr Thring with questioning authority? Why does questioning the contents of what lies in the bowl of lying shit that we are served by those that govern us, make people like me, "Paranoid?"

I presume you would have called Churchill, "paranoid", when he was warning of the threat posed by Hitler. After all I expect the government of the time had issued a report in the form of a book, that informed those that asked, "That Hitler was a nice guy!" Or what about the report issued by the Labour Government telling us that, "Saddam could attack us in 45 minutes with WMD's?". I presume you swallowed this, hook, line and sinker, because, "MI5 told us, it must be true!" So the million of us on the Anti War march were all paranoid as well?

Lapping up everything governments tell you Frank, without question, is not a virtue or strength, it does not demonstrate a, "Scholarly calm" It merely demonstrates an unquestioning, unenquiring and easily placated mind.

People have been mocked throughout history for being, as you would say, "Paranoid" or "Deluded". Presumably you would have mocked those that said the Earth was round, after all, the authorities had declared it flat, so there it is! Or perhaps you would have been amongst those who fell about laughing at Louis Pasteur, when he explained that air born germs can cause disease!

This is what one of his mockers said in 1860:

"I am afraid that the experiments you quote, M. Pasteur, will turn against you. The world into which you wish to take us is really too fantastic."

Remind you of anyone?!confused!

Instead of dismissing what I said, out of hand, why not research (Not in an "Official" report) how the Congress was misled and pressurised to dole out $750 billion virtually overnight, by International crook Bush and his sidekick Paulson. This is not "Conspiracy" this is fact! A gigantic act of fraud has been committed.

The total wealth transferred from us throughout the World, to the banks is:

$8.5 TRILLION! or $8,540,000,000,000 !cigar!

And you see nothing to be alarmed by?

"This is why I have no time for political zealots of ANY persuasion lecturing me on the merits of whatever party they support."

Latest scores on the doors for Jimbo's political postings

Anti-New Labour - 154,212
Anti-Tory-Lib Dem coalition - 5
All political parties are the same and I have cottoned on to this - 3

Pollsters point out there has been a recent slight swing away from "Stalinist, Fascist New Labour with their attack on the contents of my (Jimbo's) bank balance to fund huge public service pensions, their destruction of the UK economy and their North Korean approach to civil liberties (Anti-New Labour) towards " all political parties are the same and I have cottoned on to this".

However it is too early to say whether this could just be a temporary swing.

Cheers

Mr Slip wants change - the only way that change will happen if he stops moaning while sat at his keyboard.
