What a prat this man is. I thought the role of a 'critic' was to offer critisism, good or bad, not to preach their views to the public.

Part of what he writes is worth taking note of though....

I was thinking why doesn't 'porno' fit -('the porno of noise') - some grammatical subtley I haven't worked out.

Rules apply to the sale/supply of alcohol/tobacco, why should sexually explicit material be governed by a quasi official body - the BBFC? Cannot our political dictators find the guts to put it under either the DTI or the Home Office?
The answer I suspect is that the Govt. is (laughably) accountable to the populace - you and me.

It is far easier to throw criticism/blame etc on the BBFC and conveniently assume that we are all so ignorant as to not know that the BBFC is in turn governed by the VRA and hence the wheel turns full circle.

Yes, I fear all those who regularly buy The Standard do take notice and even if they do not wholeheartedly agree with A Walker he will still seep into their subconscious minds. There his ideas will germinate and give readers the general idea that society at large regards sex as being dirty, "degrading" "exploitative" and all sorts of other negative bullshit things. Then of course, when asked, they will feel obliged to publicly denounce any expression of sexuality in the media, as they will be afraid to be controversial and stick their sheep like heads above the parapet. Even if they quite like watching shag videos at home.

Officer Dibble on the other hand is made of sterner stuff and if some style challenged lairy tart with a blonde "Steps" haircut from morning TV stuck a mic in his leather and asked him if there was to much shagging on the box, he would say "No, there's not enough! Down with boring TV! Let's see 'Richard' shagging 'Judy' while getting his mitts on her giant jubblies! Cor!
