Banning Page Three girls

In an example of what to my mind is monumental hypocrisy I see that
one of the first Page Three girls, Nina Carter, (later married to Rick
Wakeman) is saying that she supports the current demands for a ban on
topless models in newspapers ! I am fascinated by this kind of comment
from a lady who did her fair share of wild living, drugs & sex in that
period with plenty of celebrity cock.
I would be interested to read the views of others on Page Three topless
ladies. Should we ban them ? Do they engender lust in rampant men ?
Or are they harmless pix ?

I am certain this ban won't go ahead, over the years there have been MP's who have tried to make it happen and they have always failed to. I remember a female MP a couple of years ago who wanted all Lads Mags put in sealed plastic bags and placed on the top shelf. That didn't happen either.

Hi Frank

I know by saying this, next next we meet you'll be leaping over the dinner table and repeatedly burying your fork into my head in frenzied anger, but I hate "Page 3!" For some reason, I actually buy the Sun when I'm in the UK. Its cheap, trivial rubbish and its repetition and support of the views of Murdoch and the US Republican Party, fascinate me, but the Page 3 girl is now just an outdated embarrassment, as an institution.

The only good thing is that the Sun, in an attempt to be a little ironic, writes very amusing captions for the girls, that only an academic could write. For example,

"Cheryl from Doncaster is a whopping 38 DD-28-36 and says, "The government's bogus policy of using Quantitative easing to increase the money supply by flooding financial institutions with capital, in an effort to promote increased lending and liquidity is at best fatuous and at worst futile!"

I just think its time to call it a day on Page 3. I don't believe this for the reasons of political correctness and I do understand that there are are some on this forum who would demand Page 3 girls should be banned for no other reason than, " The disgusting pictures of these terrorised victims, reinforce the brutal, sexist male stereotypical desire to perceive women as no more than mere sex objects!" and I am sure that those same people would be glad to replace Page 3, with "Female gender person most productive ship builder of the week!" !wink!

There seems to a worrying move around the planet of neo conservative prudence.....ooh tits that is disgusting and will undermine society. Now lets all bomb Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Guernsey etc and that is fine. Tits bad, drone strikes good.

Our company is ultra PC; only last year some of my female colleagues were chastised for the length of their skirts, a little too much cleavage (marvellous) and rude talk in the office.

Some of these do gooders need a damn fine shagging!!

What??? They still show tits on Page 3??? They still publish newspapers???

Who cares when you can see so much class fanny getting pranged for free on the internet. A lot of up the bum action too

Seriously though it pains me to read that, it says, "well there is no page 3 after I left so stop it now"

Page 3 has always been a bit of harmless tat that warmed the hearts of millions of men across the country and probably responsible for the baby boom of the 70's (assuming your dad read the newspaper first thing in the morning) Wanking was not as cool then as it is today

When I was growing up Page 3 girls were minor celebrities and some were even household names, every now and then you even would even see one or two on the top shelf. Jo Guest is one of my all times favs. Now a days the girls are still just as attractive but they dont seem to have the familiarity that the 80s and 90s girls had. I dont have a problem with page 3, but now there is so much flesh to be seen online maybe the titilation appeal is less strong. Maybe its time to move on.

Thank you all gentlemen for your varied, reasonable and all quite
interesting comments. Personally, Jim, I have no strong views on the
subject. I remember as a teen many moons ago thinking Page Three
was rather tacky and also rather harmless. It seemed to be a sign of
a progressive age with a liberalising "burn your bras" approach to
sexuality. It has, as historians might say, outlived its age and its usefulness.
But at the same time I am sorry if it disappears just because some ruddy
feminist says so !!
