Re: hague
They tried to get rid of him, last minute vote to change the procedure to elect the speaker. Andrew Neal said that Michael Gove as chief whip, tried to get the Tories to vote in a way that would have got rid of Bercow

Interesting. I'm not sure that getting rid of them in May would be much of an improvement to things though. What would we have instead? Milliband. Would that be any better? If the Tories are out in May they will be disappointed for about 24 hours then they would all start to cash in on the connections they made whilst in office and would each start to earn millions and millions of pounds with lots of lucrative Directorships and public speaking roles. Politics is the only profession where you can do a bad job, get kicked out, then watch your income increase ten-fold.

Hi
Yes if they get kicked out they may get a better paid job, but we get rid of them. Lots of talk about the good things they have done, well 3 years agao I lost my job and so did my friends, in that time 1 interview and that is it, some of my friends have had to sell their homes other living hand to mouth.
All wrong more people now working than ever before but tax receipts below 2008 levels
Labour will make a difference if only slight

Re: hague
The old saying that "they're all as bad as each other" gets used a lot, but I think it's true. The problem is that politicians view it as a career, a selfish thing, and even the ones who care (and I think most do to an extent) view that, namely helping the public and society, as secondary. It's because of this that they appear out of touch. If I was in politics I would view it as a self-less act, I would be there JUST for the people and the country. If politicians were all like that they'd do a better job, would seem more in touch, and would come over as caring people. Not much chance of that though from the kind of people we have, all aching to be in office for their own selfish reasons. We're not as bad here as in America though, and that is at least one thing that is a positive.

Bercow has been a staunch supporter of the rights of back benchers. That why the Tory front bench tried to get rid.
