frigging awful (tippin the velvet)
the 'erotic scenes' weren't erotic more comical (the stuff on channel 5 with that woman in lingerie was more erotic)
This is 'emotional pornography', people reacting strongly, crying, soap opera type action.
I saw a weird western called 'Johnny Guitar' with Joan Crawford, that was an amazing film with grand soap opera like 'emotions'.
The leather strap-on was the slightly cheeky main action. A period drama with special effects? This is a joke.

Hadn't seen the first episode, but if the second was anything to go by, the erotism is conspicuously absent, and it only just makes it plot-wise.
A couple of good actresses (Anna Chancellor, Sarah Thingy, but definitely not Ms Hawes, who resembles an entire deciduous forest) and a lot of costume does not a drama make.
Another triumph for the BBC hype-machine.

Well I got no complaints. I've always wanted to see Anna Chancellor cast off her prim and proper image to play an insatiable dyke (lol)

Lesbian slang for cunnilingus.

Calling it that is probably better than "Victorian Muff-Munchers" (lol) I thought the final scene where the two girls were caught fucking each other was hilarious.

The whole thing was (unintentionally) hilarious....when you compare it with stuff like Helen Baxendale's les scene in that Army thing, or Cherie Lunghi's 'Strangers' romp, or a fantastic "strangers at a hotel" short shown on the 'Shooting Gallery'........
It doesn't work as drama, and it doesn't work as soft porn.
