A recent post by the lovely Autumn, prompted me to pose the question, how many people still buy porn mags, I mean I haven,t even seen one never mind purchased one in years. I dont understand why I would want to, when I can see moving pictures or stills on a million websites, but I,m curious to know why! anyone still buys them, even newer softcore ones ie: Lads-mags,(FHM and the like).

as i said earlier on the forum i used to and still do like the top shelf mags from the early 90`s, though i`m not sure if you`re comparing like to like. the magazines then were about good looking women posing and looking sexy now the magazines are just still versions of videos, snapshots if you like. the girls we see now are not models as such, but they do know how to look good having sex. i think i`ve made a point but i`m not sure. is there any tea on the go.......

Some good points electric. You're quite perceptive in realising that "the girls we see now are not models as such? Quite right, sadly a lot of 'em nowadays haven?t got the slightest clue about being a model i.e., "posing and looking sexy" never mind knowing how to dress, do their make-up and hair etc. But then again there's no market for their trade anymore - sadly, magazines are fucked.
I'm not so sure about "but they do know how to look good having sex" I mean, look good to who pray? A dozen Forum members? Or the male population in general? I think that if you look outside at he real world the geezers out there couldn't give two hoots for any current porn star and would probably find something more useful or relevant to do, like cleaning their mouse, or polishing their trainers or whatever, that sitting starry eyed fantasying that one of 'em was their girlfriend or something. But back in the era that electric refers to what young geezer with blood in his veins didn't fantasise about driving a red Ferrari and having Linda Lusardi, Debbie Ashby, Misty McCain etc in the passenger seat, because like the Ferrari they were inspirational, They were stylish, gorgeous, feminine, sexy, erotic creatures that you wanted to be seen with, to hold, to feel, to smell and maybe even perchance to shag. The thought that you might actually be able to see one of these divine creatures ?in action? on video sent us into paroxysms of excitement and anticipation. An interesting hypothetical question might be - If our pin-ups and dream girls of the last two decades had exhibited the same style, behaviour and sartorial elegance as the current generation of 'models' would we have found them as desirable?

I personally havent thought about buying "men's mags" in years. I sometimes receive offers to subscribe to "Playboy" for very low prices: < 2 bucks an issue.Water off a duck's back to me.The only mags of this ilk I have bought at all in the last decade were porn review mags (do they have these in the UK??), & havent bought one of these in quite a while;they have gotten pretty expensive by my lights. Every year I get the "Adam Film World Directory" (annual), which is a huge bargain at $12.95; I wish they would do one based on their "amateur" magazine also.

I haven't bought any mags for 10 years or more
I used to buy Mayfair religiously and occasionally Club,Club International and Knave....those were the days when they were packed full of Brits & Euro models with the occasional pornstar & amateur.
Just like videos there are too many magazines and consequently not enough subject matter of quality to go around.
The only thing you could say in the defence of magazines is that
you know you are going to get Hi Res Pics...compared to the internet which is hit & miss
cheers

I have to confess: I love porn mags. I have a huge stash of them. Okay, I get a lot of them for free, but that's besides the point. I love looking at the beautiful naked girls all nicely framed. I even like the have a go types that appear in British mags like Ravers and Razzle too, some in provocative poses and others in really sleazy poses. Love the stuff shot by Bob Twigg, Steve Colby and Viv Thomas, I love it all. It gets the creative juices going for the videos I shoot. Sometimes, just one position a girl is in could inspire me to do something I hadn't thought of before. But then I would prefer mags over videos since I spend a great deal more time on them from inception to post production. Hell, if a film in the cinema gets too predictable, I fall asleep. You ain't caught me falling asleep behind the camera or looking at a jazz mag yet.
I have to disagree with the good Officer on some points he raised...Fight! Fight! Fight! There are a lot of stunning girls in mags these days. I'd be so bold to say they exude the same level of sexiness if not more so if we name drop some girlies at the moment such as Tera Patrick (yeah baby yeah), Kyla Cole...Awright they're American but looking at our girls there is always the lovely scrumptious Tamara Noon, Adele Stephens, Rachel Baker, Rachel Sykes, Natasha Lee Nel, Nadia, Kelle Marie gasp, pant wheeze...I could go on and on. Yeah, shame they don't do the full on boy/ girl videos (some have) but come on Officer, give our girls a bit of slack. I could reminisce the glory days of porn and the first tinglings when I saw the likes of Tracey Elvik, Amanda Forbes and Sian Adey Jones smiling their beaming smiles and sporting their pert titties on page 3, but times have moved on and there is more abundance of girls representing the UK than ever before. To wit,we've never had it so good. I admit, a majority of the current crop I would describe as your average girl next door, who doesn't know much about being sexy and doing her make up but so what. Keep it real is what I say. Porn is much broader than your archetype chisel jawed, big dicked and tanned stud shagging amazonian proportioned women now. This alienates half the buying market who want to see something they can identify with. It's because of this vast choice and personal tastes I respect everybodys opinion. I work with a cross section of models but I've always been concerned with if the attitude of the model is correct and she is definitely game on- I would shoot her for a video and this decision isn't solely based on looks.
Anyway, I'm veering off the subject a bit now, but I think I've made my point. Mags are better because you can visualise more in your mind more than videos, where you don't have to think as much as simply watch. All good sex first starts from the head. Remember that.

Sian Adey Jones! Blimey that brings back memories - still have an ancient Mayfair with her in it around somewhere.
Same story here - a good ten years since I bought a porn mag - I have bought 'lads mags' since but only to see what the fuss was about.
The good Officer Dibble is off on his eighties thing again - well fair enough there were some excellent models on the scene then, to say that noone nowadays can be professional (meaning that in the best possible way) might be over-stating it a bit but then I'm just a consumer rather than a producer and what would I know about it! But as a consumer I would say that I still see soft-core material nowadays which is every bit as good as it was then!
I make a living out of the past - but it doesn't mean that I reject the present and the future.
Oh dear I've come over all lyrical - time for bed I think...
