Does anyone know where i might find an online or otherwise 'published' list of the best European adult films of the golden age (circa 1969-1986)?

I've found several good lists for American films, which have only a handful of European ones that were released in the States. But i haven't found any quasi-official lists or even well-regarded reviewers' lists of the best European porn.

The American lists include:

Valid question, tricky situation. As far as I know, there isn't really a list. The main reason is probably that the US is one country and Europe is a bunch. European adult cinema is the combined works of (mainly) France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Greece and Turkey - very different countries with very different languages and in different corners of the continent. I'm sure there are national lists, mentioning national titles and some titles that were distributed in said country, but it's quite a mess. (information in English is also hard to come by, not least since the UK didn't get to do or see much adult cinema for quite a while due to censorship).

There really should be a list, as there are many, many gems out there (in my opinion often better than the US output). But it's down to a group of multilinguals to get the job done. They are up for a bit of hard detective work.

As Mulholland said, it is mostly a matter of national lists, and in book form you can find the odd one.
For example, Stefan Rechmeier's book "Das Lexikon des Deutschen Erotikfilms" focuses on soft porn, but does include a number of hardcore flicks, which - by implication - are considered more important than others.
There are also books about Italian and French porn which would imply such lists.

The "Zodiac" series. Very well-made period burlesque films (the last two are spy movie parodies), chock-full of pretty women and production values - as well as "regular" actors. It's never been done like this before or since.

Anyway, I think a good idea would be to open up different polls by nation and make a best ten (in the case of bigger nations, even best twenty or thirty) which one can vote for. A work in progress, though.
And I don't second beutelwolf implied suggestion of just making a list of all the production. The titles he list are of different value and I think that the question here is of choosing what one thinks are the best ones, even at cost of leaving out good movies. Of course only a few here have seen all (well, that which was traced) of the production of a single country (which, anyway, it is impossible to trace anyway, as far as the bigger countries are concerned), let alone the other ones. The polls would allow anyway even those who watched a single movie to vote for it. But of course this would mean extra work for the moderators and I doubt they'd be willing to spend time on it.

Mark, I didn't know about any Dutch or Swiss output in the "Golden Years". Lasse Braun (who worked in Holland) and Erwin C Dietrich (who is Swiss) comes to mind, but their productions are as internationally varied as Jess Francos, aren't they?

The history of Turkish erotica is accounted for in Pete Tombs well-researched book "Mondo Macabro" ("in 1979 193 films were produced in Turkey. 131 were porn.") and there are some sites selling VCDs from the era. I have yet to "go there" myself, but seems like a good place to start. One Zerrin Egeliler seems to have been the greatest star. Google her and you'll get a whole lot of pictures.
