Pinko DVDs defective

The last Pinko DVDs I watched were defective: the picture freezes at some points and some parts of the movies are unplayable. Same thing on my PC.

Looks like there is a problem at the company manufacturing them, because all these DVDs (bought new) are DVD-Rs.

I have let Pinko know about it, but they have not answered.

Even companies with high-end production values are not necessarily immune from bad batches of discs from the manufacturers [although that doesn't absolve them from checking the final product]; I've had the odd duff one from Pink'o myself [I assume you ordered direct rather than through a retailer; in the latter case they would normally replace without quibble and claim off Pink'o themselves].
If they're getting out onto the market the problem is presumably in final quality-control: typically, I expect to find at least 3 out of a 25-stick of blank discs unusable for one reason or another, irrespective of the manufacturer. More pressure needs putting on the disc-makers to tighten their production-process.
Private had a bad reputation for this- one large US supplier temporarily stopped stocking their stuff after a spate of returns. I hope things are better now- I haven't had a bad one for a good while.

Keep mailing Pink'o [politely] pointing out the future business from you they will be losing if they continue with their silence. Try and send the mails outside the 'form' template if possible- this should circumvent the 'e-wastebasket' that I suspect many of these formatted mails get dumped into.

Re DVD-Rs, the most reliable I've found are Verbatim, Maxell and Sony - less than 1% defective in 25 and 50 tubs. I've also noticed that the larger the stick the more likely it is that some will be defective. Panasonic 100 tubs typically had several defective halfway through. But Phillips 25 tubs often had 20% defective, which is atrocious.

It's worth paying the extra for branded disks, subject to the above, though Tango unbranded were pretty good.

I've found Verbatim/Maxell the least troublesome as well [l... 2 out of a million users can't be bad- do you think they'll give us a commission?]

Haven't tried Sony [my supplier charges a premium for them and as you know, I'm a world-class tightwad].

Thank you both for the advice. I have also read that Verbatim were very good, there is an article on archival media here, probably something of interest for the Pinko staff.

I have had some problems with a couple of Pink'o DVD's.
The picture has frozen in a couple of places, and most of some others were practically unplayable (a whole scene would be unplayable, no matter what you did, and I tried to play them on a PC and 3 different DVD players, with same results): 8 LUSTFUL CHAPTERS being one of them.
These were North American releases, so I don't know whether the problem stems from the masters (in what format I don't know) provided by Pink'o or the foreign distributors who acquired the rights to distribute the videos.
