Aspect ratios

First of all thanks to all those who post and send captures of actresses and apologies for being so far behind with the forum posts, but the subject of this post is not irrelevant to being so far behind.
There's often a problem with video capture software (there is with mine) in that it often stretches images vertically. This isn't always noticeable, but sometimes it is. (I suspect it may be something to do with the screen resolution used on the computer.)
Please, if possible, try to correct the aspect ratio of the capturing software. If it isn't possible, please could people try to correct the captures in image processing software after they've been saved. (I recommend Irfanview if you don't have any already.)
Unless it's a widescreen film the aspect ratio should be 4 by 3 (including the black bands at top and bottom if it's a letter box image). Many of the images posted and received by e-mail are 720 by 576 - this gives a vertically stretched image. It should be 720 by 540. I suspect that in practice the height should be slightly more as 4 to 3 is probably not quite exact in practice, but 4 to 3 at least gives us a standard.
A modern widescreen DVD would be 16 by 9 (that is 800 by 450 for an image of similar size to the above) common size of caps.
At the moment, the bottleneck in getting pictures and other information into the database is us. If contributors could do a little image processing first, it would reduce this bottleneck - and also slow you down a bit.
Anyway, thanks again, but a pause would help me catch up. Contributors could use this to investigate the possibilities of their software. Since jj's caps are the right aspect ratio, maybe he could just have a rest.
