This was a Horus release and featured some US performers like Randy West and Ed Powers (don't know if it was a non-sex cameo or actual sex participation)

They do perform sex.

From my old notes:

Year of release: 1994

Director: David Caroll

Distrib: Horus (the movie is part of the Sex House series)

The video was shot during the Cannes Film Festival.

Male performers: Ed Powers, Randy West, Joe Canaboy, Cochise

Female performers: Channone, Maeva, Tania Larivi?re, Rebecca Lord

So, Tania and Rebecca can be added to the movie.

Here is a box cover:

Wow! Did not even recall posting this back in 2009.
Well I suppose the "Cannoises" in the title gives it away that it was shot in Cannes. A lot of US male and female performers used to attend hopefully to collect some trophies and even shoot movies there during the festival (Max, the Anabolic gang, etc).
From what I have been able to uncover, the running length of this movie was rather brief, only about 57 minutes.

The Channone scene is noteworthy for being one of the most annoying Pawers
efforts ever [and that's really saying something].... after a really watchable
intro with loads of 'gratuitous ass-shots' it then degenerates into a poorly-
framed mess in which the penetration is almost impossible to see.

I don't think I ever saw an Ed Powers scene worth watching without the fast forward button or even worth remembering (the T-shirts, black socks, blanket, dark lighting, poor camerawork, box covers, etc). It was more a question of quantity over quality in the number of scenes and titles he churned out. He and Randy West had cornered the "newbie/debutantes" porn market, but that was about it.
As for Channone, I don't know what it was with her hair, sometimes long (real or wig?) sometimes short, but never really saw her turn out a really hot hot scene.

Always a little aloof, her best stuff was probably with the late Harry Morgan.
And like Marine Cartier before her, her US stuff made it plain she was there
solely for the pay-check. The difference for me is that MC could turn it on
when she cared to, while C was always like a sulky schoolgirl.

Do you mean that US porn is more prevalently money-driven than the European one?
I always thought the other way around, at least in the last 20 years or so.

The fact that more foreign performers (male/female) shoot either on US soil or for productions/scenes that are sold for US distributors/web sites certainly means that. You don't see much of porn traffic going the other way (US performers shooting overseas).
Without US funding you would not have that many euro performers in porn.
Katsuni fled France some years back to go live and work in the USA for that reason. She claimed she was getting measly offers and payment and decided that to further her career and earn more money there was no other choice than to pack her bags and head to L.A.
Pay scales for euro scenes are way below what they would pay for same scenes in the US.

Len has neatly summarized the financial side- but my point was only about
the relative lack of involvement shown in that pair's US performances,
compared to their Euro ones.

Ok, I get what you mean.
But on the other hand, in US porn you have performers that are obviously in it not just for the money, for whom porn is a sort of way of life. Belladonna is probably the most obvious example of that attitude but there are many others.
In Europe you are hardly pressed to find such behaviour in pornstars after 1990 or so. Maybe Annette Schwarz, or some Brits (Roxanne Hall, Kelly Stafford)
In fact the example of Katsumi you made above just witnesses the fact that a prominent Euro starlet of the last decade would have quit if not for bigger US money.

I always thought that the average American porn chick is there for three reasons: the money, the celebrity kick and the other girls (while for a beautiful young girl it's easy to get laid with men, it's not that easy to get laid with other beautiful young girls outside of porn).
On the other hand the average Euro porn chick, particularly the eastern ones, seems to be only in it for the money.
Obviously there are exceptions on both sides of the pond.
