Italian male performers and shemales

We should all know that Italy is the foremost European shemale/trans porn producer by now. An interesting aspect of this phenomenon is that many prominent and contemporary Italian straight porn actors (Roberto Malone, Andrea Nobili, Omar Galanti, Gabriel Montoya, Giorgio Grandi and lesser names like Pierre DJ, Samuel Lennok) did or do perform with shemales. Can this picture be explained only by Nobili's self-proclaimed 'revolutionary' approach ("
Mr. Nobili turn upside all conventional outlines. He was the one setting up the new trend of acting either with transexuals and women.") or is it part of a larger cultural-sexual attitude towards transgender people in Italy?

The latter, I suspect; at least, Italy seems more comfortable
with them than my British compatriots. They held TS beauty-
contests fairly early on, IIRC- although I'm not sure this
apparently libertarian attitude will survive if Berlusconi's
current shameless brand of popular fascism continues.
I wonder though how widespread the attitude really is, though;
I've always found Italian males [at least the young ones] to be
even more offensively and violently jealous [read: insecure] of
what they perceive to be their masculinity than British ones.

This assumption does not contradict with the scope of this certain 'attitude'. On the contrary, it seems to confirm it. I too come from a country simplistically called "Mediterranean" and where machismo to the point of misogynism and aggressive sexual behaviour of the males, especially young men, is the expected social norm. I'd like to add that popularity of transgender people as sex workers is comparable only to foreign prostitutes from Russia and other Eastern European countries.

I also imagine that continuing improvements in surgical and
pharmacological techniques are making transgender alterations a
lot more convincing [superficially, at least!] and therefore
perhaps more palatable to 'mainstream' hetero tastes.

Do you mean the reason is that plastic surgery and hormone replacement therapy are much more advanced in Italy? !bow!

Well...no; I was thinking more in general global terms.
The majority seem to originate from South America but I have
no idea whether the greater part of their 'transformation' is
accomplished there or in Europe- the latter, at a guess.
I was also mentally comparing the general quality of, say, 90s
US trannies, with their modern 'sisters'; they're light-years
apart in terms of femininity- 'above the waist' I can sometimes
only spot the newer ones by the Adam's Apple and the large hands.

A couple of obvservations might be in order:
=A number of she-male movies released in Italy in the past few years might give the indication (at least so it is proclaimed on the DVD box cover) that they are an "italian production", when that is patently untrue. A number of these movies were shot and are of Brazilian origin. The only thing Italian might be the dubbed dialogue (if at all) or the movie title.
=The transsexuals performers that populate Italian she-male movies are for the most part foreign (read: Brazilian and south american).
=Of what I have seen, the t/s seen in Italian movies are for the most part of average if not below-average looks (Robert Hill and Joey Silvera have much better loking t/s in their movies).
=While it is true that many euro and Italian male hc actors have performed with she-males, that is also true for US actors (Ron Jeremy, Tom Byron, Marc Wallice, Buck Adams, Jack Hammer, Mr. 18" aka Tony Duncan, Jerry Butler with post-op Shannon, Guy Di Silva with post-op Lana Woods, Jamie Gillis, David Hardman with post-op Lana Woods, Hershel Savage with post-op Shannon, Christian X does straight movies as well as trannies).

I heard once that transgenderism is more accepted in Latin countries.
In regards to Italy, maybe it's their Roman roots coming through, the Romans didn't much care who they had in the sack!

Brazil has been the major producer of trannie movies in the past dozen years or so, with Asian Ladyboys fast catching up.
It's hard to analyze what is coming out of Italy, as most box covers are deceptive when they indicate it's an "original Italian production", when in fact it strongly appears to be of Brazilian origins.
In the last couple of years Argentina is trying to establish itself as a major producer of she-male movies.

Historically, high-status, somewhat elderly Roman males were
socially almost expected to have a young boy as a 'lover'; the
latter was in return given the status of a proteg? and might
thereby look to gain social preference in adult life. Ambitious
middle-class families were known to have fostered out their sons
in this fashion.
They also, as you know, allowed marriage at the age of 13 and
betrothal at 6 or 7....
The Greeks were more the chaps for this sort of stuff, though ;
they seem to have practised 'hot man on boy action' more for
the sheer fun of it: -)
