HAVE you PHOTOGRAPHED Paige Lavell BY NOW.........?
This is (not yet- an American site, and we here on this side of the Great Divide still maintain a thing called Grammar.
The alternative reading of your post is........not to be countenanced.
But Chandler was of course, a great exponent of English, as anyone educated at Dulwich ought to have been.

And so was Dashiell Hammett who created the character Sam Spade. :) "Hammett took murder out of the Venetian vase and dropped it into the alley ... ", Raymond Chandler, The Simple Art of Murder.

Sorry, but down these mean posts a man must go, etc., etc.

Mrs. Archer is far from being a "good" woman, because she and Spade are screwing behind her husband's back. She is firmly on the whore side of the familiar Virgin-Whore continuum. But she isn't a femme fatale. She doesn't even approximate one, because she has no power of her own. When her husband gets shot, she goes to Spade almost immediately, as if she can't exist without a man to validate her. She spends most of the film relating to, and clinging to, Spade. Like Eve, she exists as a reflection of the hero. She's not a complete person by herself.

So Sam, what,s the story?

At last an answer. Instead of intelectual jousting between JJ and Alec. Erm...I hope Matt does not catch you two! He confuses male bonding for bummery! I like them cos they is cool and them read books and stuff. I like Mr Men books and that Richard Scarry is good.

I am of course a simpleton. Just ask WG. He holds my certificate of stupidity. He keeps it in his fridge next to his Pataks Moderate Madras paste which he uses to curry errant forumites like myself when he gets upset about his sleeping bag zip problems. WG what is this sleeping bag thing? Is this the latest trend amongst Yuppie Docklands types? You will be drinking Bolly next.

John,
Why do you feel it necessary to shoot her in stockings, high heels etc? and how does she feel about you in a get-up like that when she is trying to be serious
You should keep your private predelections out of your business in my opinion. (or at least stay with your pirate outfit)
