... and I, for one, wouldn't exactly regret the excision of the
reams of turgid advertising-copy-passing-as-review that infest
many of the Private titles' pages in the DB : -)

I had to Google Mr [Ms?] Crocker..... although even I have
vaguely heard of the young lady he seems so resolute in
defending, so I may not yet quite be ready for the wig and the
gavel. Howsoever...
... as to Alec, I know for a fact that he is big enough to take
care of himself [although Nurse Whiplash does lend him the
occasional 'hand'] and, as the senior mod [112 years old last
birthday; and the only one currently brave enough to put his
head above the parapet, as it were, by giving a name] he will
inevitably be the target of incessant heartfelt entreaties and
brickbats from the more 'emotional' of our esteemed visitors
and has consequently over the long years developed an integument
of positively pachydermatous proportions and a sang-froid that
would freeze the 'nads off a polar-bear.
Knowing what I do of the forum's personnel-makeup you will
note that in my initial reply to Alec [waspish but tongue-firmly-
in-cheek, as is my wont] I was careful not to point the finger at
him personally; I simply voiced an opinion. I'm pretty sure I know
who the Private Purple Prose Perpetrator is : -)
