Scene breakdown:
(1) Luisa (Gilda Roberts) is vacationing alone on a Caribbean island, emotionally recovering from the recent accidental death of her husband Emilio. Studly Marco (Paolo Giotto=Lauro Giotto) who is there vacationing with his girlfriend Diana (Anita Armani=Tera Bond), makes a move on Luisa. Luisa is flattered by his coy courting and she agrees to continue seeing him.
Marco and the spurned Diana have a final sex session on the deck of his yacht [he jerks off in her open mouth]
(2) Back home at their opulent villa, Luisa's sister Lara (Ursula Cavalcanti) is being courted by co-worker Fabrizio (Thomas Croisen=Thomas Stone), who would really like to marry her, (which she resists) and they have sex on a couch [anal, she jerks him off in her open mouth]
(3) Marco and Luisa are really having a nice time, and are strolling down the beach in a secluded area. They begin to have sex, but they are observed some distance away by a young couple (Nick Lang, Gloria Gucci) hiding behind some vegetation. (4) After living together for about 3 months, Luisa tells her sister that she is very fond of Marco and plans to marry him. Lara is not too happy about that prospect.
Pretty Stefania (Cristina Bella) shows up at the house to see Fabrizio's mother, and not finding her at home, has a quick fling with Fabrizio on a couch [anal, A2M, she jerks him off in her open mouth]

General comments/observations
The version being commented on is the original Italian version released by Top Line, even though all the cast members are dubbed.
Whatever there is of a flimsy plot it does not get in the way of some great sex scenes. The scenes are well lit, with good photography (by Alex Martini) and rich skin colors. All the women are quite attractive and very enthusiastic. The sex on display is quite varied, and the money shots are very well executed, a real plus. There is no traditional requisite lesbian scene and no coercive type of sex. It is really Lara who tries in so many ways to flirt and eventually snag Marco into screwing her, rather than Marco being the lecherous one trying to get in both sisters' pants. Lara is quite happy at the end of the movie seeing Marco and Luisa going off together, and she and Fabrizio contemplating more sex in the sauna. This is way above the average euro plot-driven porn, and well worth watching and perhaps even owning for repeat viewing.

Why the quotes for 'affari'?

"Affari" is spelled in the actual on-screen title with those quotation marks.
Don't know why they did that, especially since in the box cover it is not spelled that way.
The Colmax title (Bitches of the Caribbean) is even sillier, as only about half of the movie is set there
and the 3 women involved are not that particularly slutty. They just enjoy sex (which you
would expect they do while vacationing and relaxing on a Caribbean island)).

My personal two farthings:

In the Italian language, the quotation marks (or Virgolette in Italian) can be used to emphasize the particular nature of a word, like e.g. being contradictory with the rest of the phrase or to help to highlight the amusing or metaphorical nature of the phrase. "Affari" is a very broad and generic word in Italian, and in this case the question marks were used to underline the very shady context in where's set the film's plot.

I bet that two different person created the on-screen titles and the DVD cover and that the first was unaware of the work made by the second one or vice versa.

I won't quibble with that assessment.
However, we will never know what the right or left hand was
doing for this particular movie or why "AFFARI" (affairs) was put in quotation marks only in
the interior on-screen title. After all, while a box cover is used to draw in a certain
kind of clientele for either purchase or rent, an on-screen title will only be viewable to the person
who actually made the choice to buy/rent it. At that point in time, even if they had
put "Mr. Hare's Wild Mountain Adventures" as the on-screen title, no one would really have cared.

Whether AFFARI is put in quotation marks or not it does not affect whatever subtle meaning the
distributor had or may have had in mind. If AFFARI was meant to mean or infer some kind of "business affairs"
that the sisters were involved in, no such thing is disclosed or conveyed at all. Luisa clearly is outlined as
someone who is very serious about her scholastic career. Lara seems to be working in some obscure and mundane job,
holding no apparent important position or even involved in shady transactions.
If "AFFARI" is meant to convey some coy references to some "incestuous" relationships, no such thing is even suggested
on box cover blurbs, let alone being present in the movie plot or scenes.
Even the two sisters don't really seem to be over-sexed sluts, ready to mate with anyone at the slightest whim. Luisa seems
to be quite content in a monogamous relationship with Marco, and even that beach 4-way encounter was not something that
either she or Marco had planned out. They were just sharing a very intimate fuck on a secluded part of the island, when the
the two others intruded on a private moment. There is no anal or DP, just some bj and vaginal screwing, nothing really crazy
going on. The same can be said of other sister Lara, she is being heavily courted by Fabrizio and does enjoying fucking him.
She dislikes Marco initially, and then tries to flirt and seduce Marco (only because she is
horny) but he is very unresponsive. Marco only joins in in a sauna 3-way after she and Fabrizio
have started to have sex with each other.
So really there is not much "Affairs" going on in the movie and whether in quotation marks or not,
I would consider it a very lame titling of a porn movie.



However many adult movies, both euro and American have different artwork
for VHS/DVD box covers and interior screen titles.

I suspect the exact rendition might be important for listing purposes- I'm
not sure how a title starting with a punctuation-mark rather than a letter
would be affected in the db search-engine. However, as I've added it only
as an alternate title the point is moot.

The way all is presented and explained in the movie page is very fine.
Quotation marks would get in the way of a proper title search.
EGAFD and IAFD have generally wisely chosen to indicate proper on-screen titles and performer credits
to the extent that is workable.
Many movies may show #2 of a particular title series on the box cover whereas the screen title has
no # and vice versa, while some others may indicate "Volume 2" or "vol. 2", but usually such indications
are discarded for database purposes.
The same can be said for a number one of a brief or long running series. IAFD may choose
to put 1 in the first volume title to facilitate search even though that number was never
there (box cover or screen title) to begin with.
I suppose at the end of the day you have to find some common consistent method to map out a database.

To carry this discussion further about quotation marks in movie titles, the actual spelling of
what EGAFD lists as:
Racconti Napoletani: 'o diario 'e frateme

is actually spelled (upper and lower case, and with apostrophes and quotation marks)
RACCONTI NAPOLITANI: ? ?o diario e? frateme? (neapolitan dialect meaning "my brother's diary") in the on-screen titles.
Again I have no idea why they should frame the second part of the title with quotation marks.

You may have noticed [or not!!] that I tend to favour screen- over cover-
titles. I feel these are more 'trenchant' and less subject to the vagaries of
re-labelling and other studio/distributor tricks.
However, bitter experience teaches that it's unwise to be overly prescriptive
where the db is concerned : -)
