TAC liberalisation - get involved

Some Mary Whitehouse type complained about The Adult Channel and they clamped down accordingly - hence we are now stuck with shadows for erotica ( how people will laugh at this in ten years time.)
It's up to anyone bothered by this to DO SOMETHING and take the ITC on. If even 50 Forumites were to write to the ITC suggesting that TAC and TVX should be allowed to show R18 strength between say 01 30 and 03 30 (when no kids are up!!) - I think we might get a result.
What is clear is that just moaning here or leaving it to the channels themselves won't work.
It's not an unreasonable demand - but we have to ask to get. Here's the address.
ITC Viewer Relations Unit
33 Foley Street
London W1W 7TL
We don't have to stand for the current situation - but it won't change unless we force the issue.
And before anyone suggests I want to pay ?9.99 for R18 sex etc, if the ITC relents and TAC can show R18 between 0130 and 0330, I would happily pay ?25 a month and I'm sure I wouldn't be alone.
It's up to us - get stuck in!!

'It's up to anyone bothered by this to DO SOMETHING and take the ITC on.'
I think actually they might say we only impliment the government rules - so get the government to change the rules.

The Government has allowed R18 - so why not a compromise on TAC? Are there actual laid down laws on what can be shown on TV in this respect?
I think the ITC are being too strict and interpreting the law themselves way too harshly. If we don't challenge the ITC, nothing will change.
If the ITC come back and say it's down to the Government (but I don't think they will), we can pressure our own MPs.
But if we don't challenge the ITC, we won't know - and the moans about an ever tamer TAC/TVX will continue while we all laugh at claims of "the strongest sex you can see on your TV".
No challenge, no change.

Rich has a point, why cant we all try and do somthing about, just sitting here moaning/waiting for it to happen could take years if it ever happens. Ok, so what if we give it a go and it falls flat on its arse and least we tried, we will never know if what Rich is saying will work or not unless we actually try.
the ITC, BBFC, Government, whoever, we can only but try...

Yes, make your opposition to censorship and repression known to all and sundry at every opportunity. Also, a bit of anti-establishment rabble rousing would not go amiss. But it is the government who are the final arbiter of what the ITC can say or do and they will not be rushing to liberalise anytime soon. Why? Two reasons - The Daily Mail and the 'Wimmin's Issue? groups on their own backbenches. This is where we get an unholy alliance of the upper and lower middle classes - the old and the young. They both detest each other but they are both opposed to porno 'n' shagging for totally different reasons. The oldies think it's dirty, immoral, obscene and all that old bollocks. While the younger, less affluent generation of middle Englanders share the general consensus that it's exploitative and demeaning of 'Wimmin.' What a set of thoroughly poncy twats they all are. Sadly, they run the country.
Officer Dibble.

Like most of, if not all of you I am totally disgusted by the lack of democracy shown by the ITC they are fully aware that the content of TAC and TVX is encrypted and only available to adults, and one person (sounds democratic) can have there complaint upheld on the very subject these channel promise their subscribers. It stinks of conspiracy and they will definately will be receiver a letter from me. Also I have posted on newsgroup: uk.politics.censorship to raise awareness of this issue
