The "Factory of the Stars #2" edition I know only holds written english-subtitles.

The "voice-over" translator is only ever to be found on these
"Four movies-sets" you mention and unknown to appear on regular
"Single-film" DVD-releases...
So, maybe I confuse what you have written, or this would be another alternating-edition of the film.
At least to my knowing...

I only own that "4 in 1" set and I thought the standalone version would be identical with the same voice over.

The reason for my post was that I can't find this movie sold as "Russian Idol 2" anywhere
(maybe it's just a literal translation of the Russian title and not supposed to be sold with that name anywhere)
but I also couldn't find the name "Factory of the Stars 2" connected to either "Russian Idol 2" or "Fabrika Zvezd" anywhere.

Anyway, this 4 in 1 version has the voice-over translation
and I recall there weren't any subtitles (or at least there weren't any options to choose the subtitles in the menu - I could only choose the audio track).
So it fits with what you said about this being a thing in these 4 in 1 versions.

It has been quite a mission for me to find information about these Russian movies
as I don't understand a word of Russian language and the Russian alphabet confuses me a lot.

For example one of the movies in this 4 in 1 set, Pink St. Petersburg 2,
has clips from 12 Russian movies and the names of the movies
and the performers are all written in Cyrillic alphabet.

So to be able to add the correct names to my personal movie database
I had to compare the letters to a Russian alphabet translation sheet I found online
and then try to see if I can create names I can try to search on Google.

It took hours and hours but I eventually managed
to find the titles of each of the movies and then most of the performers.
EGAFD has done fantastic job as I think all of the movies were listed here
and most of the performers had their page here too.

Pink St. Petersburg 2 however doesn't seem to be listed yet
so I might write a post with all the info I managed to collect.


One good thing that came out of that project was that I learned quite a bit of how that alphabet works
Not much but way more than what I knew before.
