Hi guys
Professional editor available for all your needs, whether it be to edit new shoots or that backlog of footage in desperate need of some cohesion. I do film also but as I'm based up North I'm concentrating on editing at the moment. I come complete with:
G5 editing system with massive memory
Final Cut Pro editing software
DSR-11 deck
Vault full of copyright-free music
Hundreds of transitions and special effects if needed
Graphics, titles and all the trimmings
DVD and VHS capabilities
Fully professional sleeve design
I usually find it easier for all concerned to charge by the job rather than the hour, it leaves no nasty surprises for the client and is quicker and easier to work with. The price I quote will be for everything we agree on and will include at the very least all of the above.
Finished projects will usually be presented with the mini-DV or DVD master and a CD containing a high-resolution print of the sleeve design (in different sizes if VHS and DVD are both needed). As an added bonus and because the last thing I ever want is to disappoint, clients are more than willing to see rough cuts of the edit before it's complete to see how it's going and add in input of any music, shots or effects they would like changing, removing or adding to the finished edit.
If I sound as if I may be a good resource by all means get in touch for a chat or a quote:

In my opinion samsung the ONLY choice is MAC G4 or G5 with Final Cut Pro (it beats the crap out of Premier - even their Pro version doesn't live anywhere close to the FCP 4 HD software). I offer similar to Steve and I have been shooting, and editing my quality programmes and films since 1996.

Hi
I am an editor (over 200 credits for broadcast Documentary and Drama programmes Carlton Ch4 BBC etc)
I have used Premiere FCP Spedrazor and various other NLE software packages.
Quite simply Avid (not DV or Express versions) is the best followed very closely by Lightworks.
Final Cut Pro is the best budget solution and probably well suited for Porn shoots which from what I have seen are basically amateur affairs.
I have recently finished a five part series of 50 minute docs broadcast by Ch4 using FCP a task which I know Premiere could not have handled.

Hi guys,
Thanks for replying to my initial thread, as Roger rightly says Final Cut Pro and a G5 especially are the right way to go if you want a decent editing facility. I've tried Premier, Avid and Final Cut Pro. Premier was probably the most strenuous way of editing (especially when using a camera to feed the footage rather than a deck).
Final Cut Pro has been my best and easiest experience, I've been editing videos for many years now and it's a lot easier when you finally come across (no pun intended) a worthwhile package. Avid Express (the programme I used before it) is very, very similar but is not quite as easy and problem-free as Final Cut.
The DSR-11 alone cost in excess of ?1000 but it saves strain on the camera and is much faster to use. I was going to get a G4 at the time of buying but the G5 had just come out so I dug a little deeper to get the better model. It's like carrying an anvil but it does the trick.
If anyone needs my services by all means get in touch, or if any aspiring editors need more advice on the soft or hardware by all means fire away.

I have been editing since the pre non linear video days. I even did a bit of film editing many years ago!!
I learn't NLE on Avid Media Composer and do still work on that system (both on PC and MAC), I bought FCP from the 1st batch that came into the UK, I really thought it was too good to be true. I have fallen in love with it! I find it more intuitive than Avid and it seems to do some stuff that Avid doesn't. If you have the proper hardware FCP is a much more sensible buy. Pound for pound it is a much better system. (IMHO!!!).
I also offer a similar service as well as shooting and offering some funky kit like a jib, track, steadicam, mini (pussy?) cam and the most comprehensive sound kit you could find!
Sorry to hijack your post!!

While many people perfer Mac's when it comes to editing, i use a Pentium 4 with a stack of memory, 2 large hardrives and SONY's Vegas editing software, which i have to say is simply fantastic and can handle DV footage with ease. More importantly, it never crashes unlike other editing packages i have used.
While i have Premiere 6 on my machine, i have never gone near it.

Thanks for keeping the technical speak going guys, I do agree with many of the points brought up.
Having used Final Cut for several years now as I say it does the trick but having only used a couple of alternatives I don't have much to compare it to. The variations of Avid I used were very good and problem free, though the deck I used with it at the time was a monster with more cables hanging out of it that Nasa.
As to crashing, the system I use has remarkably never crashed a single time in the several years I've been using it. No matter what the system, as long as it isn't too primitive or poverty-stricken with regard to music and effects then it usually does the trick. The simplicity of Final Cut and its ability to render effects at lightning speed does gives it a quickness though that I'd be at a loss without. Most G5's come with a nice quick DVD writer too which is always a plus.

But simply learning the Mac way of working, the Mac OS and the Mac special keys is a major offput to people used to PCs.
I am also a professional editor and I have been trained on Mac and Avid. I find the Final Cut interface confusing and unfriendly to the newcomer, and these days I use Sony Vegas 5 on a high spec PC, and it leaves Premiere dead in the water. Let me know what you can do on Final Cut Pro that you can't do in Vegas? (and I mean stuff that you actually use for porn videos, not features that most people will never want to use anyway).
As for Final Cut Pro 4 HD, well whats the need for it? How many production companies let alone porn companies are yet using HD cameras? and how many viewers have HDTV sets to watch it on?
I am available for editing work, located in Yorkshire. Credits to my name, and qualifications, and own equipment.
