USC 2257 and effects for the UK webmasters.

First off sorry mods if this is in the wrong forum, but I feel this is important to many webmasters here, but feel free to move if needed.

Most webmasters should be aware of the forthcoming implementation of USC2257 in the USA, and many would have read the numerous topics on forums like GFY.

The big question is how does this affect us, the UK based webmaster (as well as other EU countries), but many of whom who also host their sites in the US.

Are we exempt from these laws, yes as non US citizens we probably are, and being 1000's of miles away they would not really be able to pop over to our offices to check our records, but as already pointed out by others (http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthrea ... ost7462744) if you are hosting in the US you are obliged to follow US law, and if they wanted to be real difficult whilst maybe not prosecuting the webmaster, it could lead to servers being closed down.

But I don't know the real answers, just as many others probably don't.

We need advice from a lawyer, but also a lawyer that is conversant with 2257 and international law, not just some bloke down the road (our own lawyer has already advised this needs specialist advice from a lawyer that is upto speed with adult related matters).

So we all need this info, but why would we all want to pay for this advice separately?

I feel the community spirit within the UK adult industry shoud work here, to allow us to work as a group and get legal advice as a group, and hence share the costs.

These changes are going to affect us all, either directly or indirectly, and whilst I know I have all the right IDs for my site, I still want to get correct and proper legal advice on where I stand and what I have to do.

So is anyone else interested in working as a group to gather this information from a reputable source?

If anyone is interested please email me on info @ onlytease.com

Cheers all

Paul.

You need to change your 2257 info so it's compliant. Other than that this is a law about filing and they will have to come to you to check your documents.

They can visit me anytime they like, within working hours, and view my documents. We have no problems and comply to the law.

Isn't it adding to the confusion that there are about 6 different threads for the same subject?

Neil if you think it's bad here you should look at This is the largest webmaster forum on the net ... Over there everyone is starting new threads..

The bonus on BGAFD is that there is more interest here than on most UK run webmaster forums. Webmasters, photographers and producers all get to make a point and are doing it..

But you do have a point about the number of threads here as I've now got to find Marino's post to reply to him.. LOL...
