I am not sure to what extent this has been covered on the forum, I have not been around for a while, trying to preserve sanity and health, but if it?s been done to death then sorry!

This is just to reassure all past, present and future models of Strand Productions that we will not be supplying the personal details of any of our models to any companies in the USA or elsewhere.

We have always given an undertaking that this information was given to us to keep secure and to be produced only to a legal authority, we hold the view that supplying this information to numerous unregulated companies in the USA or anywhere else is not the correct use of that information. We also fear that this may lay the models open to being contacted by unsavoury characters who may have an agenda of their own to peruse.

This policy is already costing us sales and money but sometimes the right thing is not the most profitable thing.

Yeah, t? fuck wiv ?em! You show ?em Rem! I believe the sole purpose of this legislation is simply to make life difficult for pornographers. But I wouldn?t fret too much; it?ll probably get struck down in the Supreme Court, anyway.

Looking on the bright side, anything that makes life difficult for the proponents of ?chav porn? and it?s American equivalent ?trailer trash porn? will give me a timely excuse to have a gratuitous wallow in a large vat of schardenfreude.

I am an affiliate for several US websites, pornstardollars who look after Jenna Jamesons site have an interesting statement on their homepage. They say something very similar to REM. They simply refuse to reveal details of Jenna or any of their other models.
They do say they expect the legislation to be thrown out soon.
Nastydollars have set up a system where webmasters can have a website of hardcore content on their servers. They will have all the details of the models and will make it available but only to US webmasters. Seems to suggest that UK webmasters have nothing to worry about. They also expect the legislation to be thrown out.
Danni.com have released 2257 compliant material and will not be releasing any details. They also say UK webmasters shouldn't have a problem but do advise we comply by only using their 2257 compliant content.

Oh and in Canada the 2257 code has been classified as "against Canadian privacy laws" They have the same sort of DPA is the UK does!

The people who run katesplayground.com which is hosted in Canada say they won't change a thing after the Canadian lawyers decided this.

The reason some of the Americans are scared is that they are the ones who are going to be directly in the firing line on this one if it all goes off as originally planned.

Sure, there are going to be 'trickle down' economic impacts for any non-US performers/producers who rely on the USA in any work capacity, but it is thosed based in the USA that will be getting raided/arrested/sent down etc. if 2257 goes through unchanged.

Here's hoping it gets thrown out, but who knows in Bush's America?

The problem is not so much with the web sites themselves but kicks in if, like me you have deals in the states where companies are marketing your product through the net. The fact that they advertise my product, have a cover on their web site, seems to mean that they need all the pesonal info of every performer. I have just been told by ARBN that as I will not supply the details they want they will not put my films into their system. So that is for me a market lost.
But not all is bad news. I will be opening my own hardcore theatre featuring mine and others films very soon. Who needs our saviours accross the water, we do it better, we just have to do it.

Agree - I'm hoping the US optimists are right, but this is a regime that's done (and got away with) much worse things than harass porn publishers.
