Re hiv/std Testing

Post by seymourpussy »

Due to a guy becoming hiv pos in the states a fair while back it was decided by an unelected group of people that new standards should be introduced over here. Prior to this hiv certs of up to three months were acceptable but this was changed to hiv/std no more than 1 month old and amid great fanfare Baiha was launched, I now find that the website no longer exists and the instigators of this no longer post here.
Monthly Hiv testing (essential) is not a problem as this can be carried out in minutes. however std testing takes up to a week for the result to come back which means that you have to attend the clinic every 3 weeks and as I prefer the convenience of using Medicentre (no appointment) I find the cost of ?150 and having to travel to London every three weeks a pain.
Due to other commitments NHS is not an option, what are others opinions on this.

Id rather be safe than sorry.

Charing Cross do free certs...I know they are NHS but id much rather spend a day getting tests than not having them. Im sure there is a private clinic closer to you who could do them??

Before i moved down to London it was a pain to get the tests, plus the fee but i easily make that back by doing one shoot so it evens itself out.

The Regents Park Clinic (which is under new management & has moved!), now in Harley Street does the full HIV/STD test with certificate. The cost if you are in the industry is ?150 and if you require it, they will post the results (with certificate) to you within 48 hours.

He wasnt asking where did tests, he was asking for your opinion on them being monthly.

I don't understand why anyone in the porn industry wouldn't want to do the maximum to protect themselves. Just because HIV is lethal it doesn't mean STDs aren't worth preventing. A three month certification timescale is frankly ridiculous if you actually want to minismise your exposure to risk.

Every month is a pain but it is worth it! You could catch so much in the space of 3 months and before you knew it everyone would be infected...

NHS is a pain having to wait so long, so as John Mason posted , Regents Park is where I go for mine, it is ?150 a go but convenient?

But I def agree that having tests every month is just the way it should be...

But the reason behind this 1 month hiv/std ( not that i'm against it) is because one group of blokes/ girls got together and decided that this was what the rules were and they weren't going to work with anyone else (creating a 'group' - the girls would only work with the guys and vice versa). Thus, the BAHIA was formed because a group of producers weren't using any other guys or girls but this one specific group, so therefore they were forced into a corner (with the guys increasing their money!!) unless they got off their butts and found some new talent!! (Which if they were wise, they could've done as there is plenty around now). What I am saying is that no one should be forced into a corner just because one group is holding them to ransome. Just do your leg work and get some new talent to do the job. And there is talent if you take the time to nurture new people into the business.

I am not against the 1 month testing, just the reasons why it came about.

Hi Lara, I was one of those who attended and supported the motion of one month hiv/std testing, though I relented where couples are concerned. Hell it was even me that gave the BAIHA its name...Well someone included the "i "for industry

I still stand by that decision and I encourage new talent but even new talent working regularly in the business amongst another group of regular workers, there has to be standards as anyone working on the periphery of this business could infect someone in the regular group and next you know, you have the equivalent of a bush fire with every one going down with some infection or other and the slanging match that often ensues to blame someone else.

To go against this might have fatal consequences...Remember all it takes is one person. Besides all that, it gives most people that extra bit of confidence that there are standards than not.
