As we finish another year in this wonderful business called Porn, I get the feeling of Deja Vu yet again. Another British girl lets me down, no phone call, no text, no show! The pattern is the same as it's been for the past twelve months and after working out the figures I get a 77% rate of 'no shows' from British girls (And I'm doing better than some of the other producers I've spoken to!). This is compared to 12% rate of 'no shows' of European girls.
These days I work a lot with amateur couples and find them to be more reliable and professional than most of the so called professional British girls.
Now I know that not all the British girls are unreliable, but the good one's are fast becoming an 'endangered species', and unless this next year sees a turn around in the figures the writing could be on the wall for 'British' porn!

Fuck 77% that is awful. I have had only 4 complete no shows all year, and that is shooting usually 3-4 times a week (but I only shoot glamour so slightly different). However, it is usual for the model to be at least 30 mins late, best this year was 3 hours late (and the excuse was she got delayed as she had to stop for petrol!) and still get one a week cancelling the day before!

However, was in Prague last week and we shot 12 girls, all turned up on time (and the morning shoots started at 9.30am) and were utterly professional and couldnt be faulted.

I know we will be spending a lot of time in Eastern Europe next year!

GASP!!! I knew things were pretty shitty out there (just look at the current DVD covers) but I didn?t know things were that bad. I gave up on the filming deal a couple of years ago - I ain't paying good money to film chavs and the punters don't want to pay to see it either.

I?m afraid it's just indicative of this awful chav culture that were are now mired in. Values, standards, and conventions are being whittled away while we all stand around with our hands in our pockets like dozy plonkers. Apathy and complacency rule. If no one can be bothered the best thing would be to shut up shop rather than prolong the agony with a stream of dire council flat/Travelodge masterpieces featuring singularly unattractive 20 something?s.

I suggest the answer might be for all producers to put their foot down and say to these 'models' - "Hey, look, I wanna see your references. Because if you are too lazy, flaky or stupid to hold a straight job down it's highly unlikely that you will come over as sexy on video - you won't understand how to use your sexuality (or what that is, for that matter). Also, you?d better turn up on set at the appointed hour looking like the sum of all men's desires (Monroe, Taylor, Loren, Bardot, etc) so that means getting some lippy on, a proper hair style and a friggin' skirt, at the very least! Or ya' can naff off!"

That's what would happen in an ideal world. But I fear it wouldn't work nowadays as there are umpteen new 'producers' who aren?t interested in standards and quality. They just want to see some naked chav birds. So if the bird does happen to turn up they'll get their sleazy kicks (maybe even shoot some video) and then give 'em a few quid. And so the sorry cycle goes on.

The problem is that the 'council estate' types are the one's who tend to turn up and the 'glamourous' one's (who probably earn more escorting anyway!)are the one's who don't turn up! That might explain why Brit porn is the way it is!

I don't know why you all just don't name and shame. If girls who do this on a regular basis continue to get booked then it's never going to stop. If producer A gets let down by girl X and producer A doesn't tell anyone, chances are producer B will be let down too.

Make a big fat list of girls who don't show without letting you know and pass it round.

John doesn't need to name and shame. Quite a few photographers and producers are in regular contact with each other, as it's a verey small biz in the UK. Word gets round about who's ok and who's not

The last part is the clue. If the girls can't earn what they feel they are worth, you can't entirely blame them for earning money other ways (with respect, it's still sex for money), and if the porn industry can't deliver them the income they want, there's got to be a reason (and not necessarily just their lateness)...

The films we would like can barely be found, or there's competition from harder European and US products, and lack of outlets drives the price up.

I admit I'm sketchy on my facts on that last bit...but the govt is making it harder to find the films we want, whether directly or indirectly.

So don't blame the girls, blame Bliar....

If they can earn more escorting, then maybe you're not paying them enough...

If you can't sell enough to pay the models properly, then perhaps it's time to try another job?

If a nice glamour girl can earn ?160 an hour for staying at home how much do they get paid for travelling over half of England before being shagged by a Chav in tracksuit bottoms?

You got the wrong end of the stick so to speak. The problem is not with the girls escorting, it's with them taking a booking, and then not bothering to turn up! Or even have the manners to let let you know that they can't be bothered. That is what is REALLY killing the 'British' side of things
