DVD Duplication

Looking at doing DVD dupes for external clients. For runs of over 20 I was thinking about ?1.30 - ?2 per unit (copied with full colour print), does that seem resonable??

last year i worked for a midlands company that charged ?1 for full colour on disck printing dvdr5 inc case and and extra 25p for full colour laser printed wraps. all the discs carried a gurantee but customers still deemed the service expensive. this year they dumped the duplication service and now sell 1 to 1 ACARD/Wytron Copiers for ?100 inc drives.

If you are doing a greater volume than you can handle on your PC get yourself a standalone duplicator.

Get a full size tower, high speed 1 to 7 controller and a 7200rpm hard drive plus as many Pioneer 110 drives as you can justify as you can always thow in more later.

Use decent grade DVD-R blanks and burn at at half the rated speed for reliability.

For disc printing the Epson R300 does a good job but about 3 minutes per disc. No experience but heard Canon IP 4000 gives good results too.

For inlays on decent paper inkjets are great quality now but of course (according to something on TV not long ago) printer ink is the third most expensive liquid in the world.
Colour laser printer prices have fallen dramatically so in the long run could work out cheaper.

I use the Bravo Disc publisher. Can burn and print 50 discs at a time. I also have an Epson R200 which is OK but a pain to use as it is very tempramental. I tend to send larger volume jobs out to dupe houses but I could do dupe runs of up to 500 at a reasonable cost.
