Please could anyone tell me about the reliability of STB DVD ?

After contacting them via the link on this site I ordered 4 DVD's some 7 weeks ago now. I have contacted them about 6 times, whereby I am continually promised they ARE in stock and being sent out. This is now the third 7 day promise that has lapsed.

I am usually very optimistic, but it appears that I have been ripped off on this occasion. Ive been denied a refund and despite numerous requests they wont supply their telephone number so i could at least, speak to someone about it !

Please can anyone advise (have you been conned?) Or can anyone help with a telephone number ?

Help appreciated.

Paul

If you purchased the goods on your credit card then you should have a good grounds for 'Goods not Received'

Find out what your banks policy is if you have bought on the credit card

I had a recent similar experience with a company I won't name
because they came good...after i emailed them...telling them that my bank had told me that the debit would be charged back within 2 weeks unless the goods were received

I received the goods in a week..friendly persuasion I call it

cheers

I bought VHS tapes from them years ago and they always seemed to deliver satisfactorily. One of my friends is still receiving their postal catalogue which always used to include their telephone number. The new issues have only fax numbers now. I can give you them if they are helpful.

have found them generally reliable, although saying that i am still waiting for a dvd which i would expect to have arrived by now (Christmas posting delays?)
my main problem with them is that they say they deliver from within the uk but then don't. their website / catalogues all say they will deliver from within the uk.

When I dealt with them in the past you had to send your postal orders off to Italy, but when the orders finally came, they had been sent from within Britain. They had British stamp which I think was franked at Liverpool.

I've always found them reliable and quite prompt. UK despatched.

Not much consolation if you're waiting I know.

Do they read here?

Oh, dear, oh dear. As someone with adult video retail interests this old chestnut always gets right up my naffing nose - What does it fuckin' matter where they are posted from so long as they actually drop through your letterbox as promised?

Oh stop whining Paul. STB have been trading for may years - indeed that, strange as it may seem, is the basis of their business - they send customers the goods that they have ordered, delayed or otherwise, and then the customer goes on to order more goods in future i.e., business continues. To suggest that they have suddenly decided to rip YOU off NOW is totally irrational. Haven?t you asked yourself rational questions about this matter, like - What would they gain by not sending me the DVD? ?15.00 quid, ?20.00 quid? Hey, they may be small timers but give 'em a bit a firkin' credit will ya?

I don't know STB or who runs it, but I do know a thing or two about these types of organisations. The reality is probably that for whatever reason - and there are many that have nothing to do with ripping you off - they cannot supply the DVD right now. If they are straight and honourable and I have no reason to doubt that, they will supply the goods when circumstances permit. You must accept that companies like these are operating outside of normal mainstream business channels and are hampered by not being able to exploit all the facilities that mainstream businesses are privileged to. So, cut 'em a little slack. On the plus side they do tend to supply more varied and interesting fare than the piss-taking tripe that you get offered in legit sex shops.

However, it could be that it is YOU who are the problem Paul. We have only heard your side of the story. If we heard STB's it might cast a whole new light on things...

P R Mann - he knows about this kind of stuff.
