Model release HELP!!!!

Hi guys, just spoke to a glamour model about a shoot and rates etc and she said that its ?60.00 per hour then another ?60.00 for a model release.

I always assumed that the model signs a model release form before the shoot anyway as the shoot would not be worth doing as I could not put it online.

Any help as per usual(lol) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Regards James

This is a contentious issue James! Personally I always get model release and most "proper" models don't ask extra for it. I always look at the overall price and if I'm happy with that then I pay it. For example if a model said a 3 hour shoot was ?180 with no charge for release, or if she said it was ?150 plus ?30 for release, whichever way you look at it it's ?180!!

Technically in this country, because of the law, you don't need it. My view is if a girl/boy is going to model they should assume it is going to be released. It's like hiring a mercenary who then turns around and says he'll hold the gun but doesn't want to actually fire it at anyone!!tumbleweed!

I would like to not pay the money for it but if 6 months down the line a model would say that I am using content that she did not allow then I will be FU***D. Why do I need it? What is it anyway?

Thanks for the replies, I am still a bit confused though about the whole point of a model release form.

The model release issue is not as clear cut as it used to be now we have the internet.

Basically if the material was going to be seen in the UK ONLY and you didn't have release, the odds on a model having a successful claim would be virtually non-existant. However if the material is going to be viewed worldwide, particularly the good old USA, you need model release as well as two government issued forms of ID to conform with their 2257 reg.

No doubt someone will post to say this is bollocks but that's more or less what my legal guy said in laymans terms and seeing as I put his kids through University I take his advice!!shocked!
