HIV and STD Tests

Hi,
I don't usually do many postings and talk out that much; however I feel very strongly about this subject matter and have the full support of all the UK Producers.
If any model turns up to a shoot without a current ORIGINAL, NOT photocopied, in date HIV and full STD certificate, they WILL NOT be shot and will not be paid any travel expenses.
I understand that many models still feel the need to forge their tests and save money and in doing so jeopardise their fellow models, this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on my sets.
Please our industry is NOT a dirty industry, what makes it dirty are individuals who feel it is, and don't take responsibility for their own actions.
I hope all performers and producers read this and do the right thing.
Thanks
Kenny

I've had experience of a clinic faxing a cert when the tests came back a bit late. Is that OK or would you regard that as having the same status as a photocopy?

Im sure most models would make sure they are certed for the full month anyway.
I myself go to indigo every 21days just to make 100% sure that I can work everyday of the month, given the fact that the std tests have to go to the lab and the results get posted.
By going every 3 weeks its also good for the fact that if there is an outbreak of a occupational hazard... its treated fast and nipped in the bud. (not that ive ever had anything!(but models health is more important than any of the money made in this industry put together ten times over)

As long as the fax was on headed paper and it had a number I could quote with the centre to confirm that everything was ok, then yes no problem

Hiya Kendo,
Noticed this post and thought I'd add my thoughts. I'm from a medical background myself as well as my partner Adam, We've working in various fields including genito-urinary medicine.
One of the things I'm personally keen to promote is safe sex in my movies, especially as I use swingers, and I'm keen to raise the profile of safe sex within the scene. A lot of the younger crowd are pretty good, yet the older swingers don't really see it as a concern which is quite scarey considering the diseases out there.
When I was working, which in all honesty, was a while ago, the standard test carried out in GU clinics was the HIV Antibody test, which typical required between 1 and 3 months of build up before it was positive, although HIV levels in the blood could be quite high, and you could be considered "hot" whilst producing a Negative result, ie you have the virus, but your body hadn't built up enough antibodies to produce a positive result.
When I was working, there was the P24 antigen test, which would show a positive result within 2-3 weeks of infection, but that wasn't used as standard in GU clinics due to it's cost, it was mainly used by the blood doner services to screen blood.
Essentially, when you get tested, do you know which test has been used and is it shown on your certificate as the clinic I worked in didn't issue certs for the adult industry.

Certificates which are issued by medi-lab in Manchester confirm the type of HIV tests amonst the other type of tests.
They do HIV 1 & 2 AB/P24 ag screen.

This is all very well, but what abotu between the test, Many girls are escorts, many do the party scene, and many without condoms, yet they can still turn up to work with a curent test. Also there ae gys that are bi in the swinging scene and of course the guys that pull girls in clubs at the weekend's and knob them no condom. but still having current tests.
We are in a risk business and as much as like it to be safe, a few forged tests are a lot less to worry about with everything that is going on. I only have sex with the lovely ladies from porn, as I know we can have all the fun we want but as safe as possible.I will support whatever I can over this issue, but we are flogging a bit of a dead horse.

I agree with Marino inasmuch that people have private lives. With or without drugs/alcohol, young people mostly lose track of the said subject when confronted with their own pleasure/predeliction at a certain time.
We are asking youngsters to behave responsibly!
Sure, tests are all very well, but as well known, do not always portray the current situation. There seems to be no concrete answer - at least until the drug companies come up with an instantaneous rsult - and we are therefore dependent on the whims of human nature.
Maybe depressing, but neverless, reality.

Hi Again,
Adam just told me that one of his uncles friends is a Professor of GU medicine, so if you have any specific medical questions you'd like answered, he'd be willing to see what he could do.
