Hello I am 18 year old and from the UK. I have just finished college where I studied media which involved film making and stuff and i'd like to get into porn directing. I am not some 18 year old idiot perv I am interested in the industry from a professional point of view and would like to be a serious director. Could some other fellow directors (sucsessful ones) give me a little advice possibly on how one would get started, what it take etc...

I have heard laws on DVD stuff over here in the UK kinda suck so I would rather shoot for the web. I am actually very good at web design as well, so if anyone has any advice along that kinda thing it would be good as well.

Why not start off Gonzo? Just film two people having a shag with one camera and start from there?

Dear plastic kid, like anywhere you have to start as a runner, so you can learn the tricks of the trade, unfortunately the normal rules do not apply to porn, so we work outside the box. Unless you put your own money in to your own projects. It would be difficult to direct porn at 18 as you would not have had enough of lifes experience having your own sex life.

It was interesting reading your post 'theplastickid' and what Marino said made much sense.

I myself am new and went into porn as a director/camera man/story writer/editor by myself. I was a one man band and used my own money and equipment. So far i have shot and edited 2 scenes and still need 3 more to compete my film. It was been fun and an interesting learning curve. I have also learn't that porn being porn things don't always pan out as planned, so at times it makes sense to go with the flow. Another thing, i had all these ideas worked out for the main girl to appear in 3 out of the 5 scenes. After filming the gilr solo scene the girl in question left the UK never to be seen again, so that many of my plans out of the window. That caused a re write and new plans to evolve. So far i have not made a dime, although i have not attempted to sell my product, so it will be interesting to see if i can make a profit.

Expect it long and hard - the struggle that is.

Hi theplastickid, Marinos advice is sound there is very little chance of directing or making films in the adult biz unless you are prepaired to put some money up front and like superdick has said ih the film industry you start at the bottom rung as a runner, if you are not already registered with them is your best place to start looking for work but i doubt if it will be shooting porn but the best of luck!happy!
