Going to Erotica this year?

With all trade and exhibition events, many people who have stands lose money by being poorly prepared and not capitalising on the event. It costs a lot of money to have a stand at an event so you have to make sure that you generate enough leads to at least cover the cost and hopefully make a profit.

Here are our top tips to generating lots of leads at a trade exhibition;

Flyer outside the venue

Get people?s attention outside before everyone starts trying to get their message across. I suggest a simple flyer that clearly states where your stand is, even have a diagram. Have some sort of offer on the flyer i.e. first 50 people gets a free gift etc. this will get people going straight to your stand and people follow others so you will get a lot of attention from the start.

Draw attention to yourselves

You have to be loud and bright in order to draw attention to your stand. Try and get a crowd of people round your stand, people attract people!

Don?t just sit behind your table or stand, make sure that you are actively bringing people to your stand by any means possible. By having large colourful backdrops, it can really catch people?s attention.

Data Capture

This is vital! You have to be getting people?s information such as email addresses, phone numbers, names etc. I suggest taking along a laptop and getting people to enter their information in return for a free gift. You can also get people to leave their business card and you draw one out at the end of the day and they win a prize.

Never let people fill out their own details by hand. When people fill out forms themselves, up to ? of them will be illegible and therefore not worth having. Make sure that you write everything yourself, get people to dictate things to you.

Get people involved with the product

This is one of the key rules of selling, get people involved with what it is you are doing. If you make films them have them playing, if you produce toys then have them available for people to handle and use. Someone who interacts with a product is much more likely to buy than someone looking at something in a box.

Order Forms

I am always astounded by the number of people who do not take order forms or have some method of making sales at the event. You really need to make sure you have some way of making sales, even if it is an enquiry form and you contact the prospect back after the event.

Use the available technology, most events have WiFi access. If you run an online shop then take a laptop so people can order there and then.

Promotional materials

Make sure that you have promotional materials such as flyers and leaflets. Never het cheap promotional materials as this is what people are going to remember you by. When they get home and pour out all their flyers from their bags, do you want yours to be a cheap photocopy type? You can not sell expensive products or services on cheap paper.

Investing in your promotional materials always pays off if you do it correctly. I also advise you get a professional designer to do any artwork, again the impact it will have will always be much better than what you can do on Word.

Business Cards and networking

The networking opportunity is often overlooked by stand holders. Although your purpose is to trade to the public, there are great opportunities to be had with other stand holders. I suggest finding out who is exhibiting and make a list of all the people you want to talk to.

Make sure that you take plenty of business cards with you and dish them out liberally. Again like with promotional materials, don?t get cheap and nasty cards from a train station, have professional ones designed instead, they will pay for themselves in no time at all.
