very tempted to get the receiver and subscription, but is there anything to be aware of, other than the fact that it's mainly italian content.

is it actually what it says it is or are there any catches.

thanks

It broadcasts on 28E (Eurobird sat) from 10.00pm - 5.00am.

If you are buying the subsidised package from SCT direct it is quite a good deal .... and the Samsung receiver can be patched..

I recieved my new reciever today and hopefully my SCT card will come tomorrow.
I bought a 3 month subscription as a taster and then we shall see.
I bought a Technomate reciever and Irdeto Cam for under ?200. Not too bad i guess.
Above the cam slot is another smaller slot. Anyone know what i do with that!

Hi Mate

Your best bet is to buy "What Satellite" magazine which will give you a list of dealers that sell receivers and SCT cards, You've got a few options, you can buy a cheap receiver and seperate "Viaccess" or "Irdeto" cam plus the SCT card or you can buy a receiver with an in-built cam and card. I have a HUMAX 5300 receiver which has an in-built viaccess cam, cost me ?210 and is one of the better mid priced receivers on the market with plenty of software available for future proofing, bought it from a dealer called Myersat. On a patched receiver it means that this receiver has been modified in order that it can theoritically receive Free to air channels from various forms of encryption but be aware that most channels have now updated their encryption methods and can only be received by official cards, there are little or no hardcore channels available by using a pirated smartcard.

I mentioned that SCT was showing hardcore in an e-mail to the adult channel and would they be challenging the ITC to allow them to braodcast R18 content, but as yet had no reply.

Hi

To be honest I believe that both TAC and TVX only publically state how they should be able to broadcast harder material but in private are quite happy at the current state of events as it allows them to charge the same subsription fee to customers for softcore content as the european channels do for hardcore and also probably pay the producers less for their material they produce as it's softcore versions(may be wrong on that) be interested to find out from our producer friends.

Maybe so ... but I will be cancelling my TAC & TVX subscriptions in favour of SCT ... No way am I paying virtually the same money (twice as much for both) for SC (with the ocassional millisecond camera slip) when I could have HC. Yes I like the British content, but at the end of the day we are talking about HC!! My thought is that SCT will tweak its content for the UK audience - kets face it the only reason they are broadcasting on 28E is to pick up the SKY customers in the UK. What are the chances of TAC & TVX broadcasting HC content from the Eurobird satellite (not the Astra birds)?
