Please help techies

I have a Panasonic NV-DS29 Camcorder which I now want to use as a webcam ...

At the moment I record the tapes, then using a firewire, record it onto DVD on my DVD recorder then upload on my PC.

BUT ... I have no idea which wire to buy to make it possible to use as a webcam ... My PC only has a USB, but my camera only seems to have a firewire ... Oh I don't know ... I need some help lol

You could get a firewire card to plug into your pc, and then you could also get rid of the DVD stage when you are uploading tapes to your pc.

Lots of results. I looked at this a couple of years ago and the answer was yes, and I made it work, but can't remember how.... But should be easier now.

You will need a firewire card for your PC though.

Longtime since we did that last shoot which was fun.

I made my HVR-A1E work as a webcam the other day for a show with Crystel Lei. It allowed me to stream whilst I could also record to DV tape. All I used was the camera and firewire card and firewire cable. Then you can use any broadcasting program to recognise your camera.

Just fishing guys, is web cam worth doing & can you make a fair amount with it. There is me & a few of my friends thinking of setting up something to do with web-cams but its all new to me.
I liked Stormchilds idea of camming & recording at the same time simple yet clever & giving you other outlets with the recorded footage.

You can make a decent amount if your prepared to put the hours in, I suppose like everything else these days. A friend of mine does it yet she treats it as a job rather than an ad-hoc thing and she pulls about ?1000 a week (before dedections), sometimes less she was rather surprised on her very first week when she pulled ?1000 she was dubious she would ever see the money but she was elated when a cheque landed on her doorstep, she does it on adultwork so they do take 30% but its easy and you dont have to work too hard to promote yourself, I do it for fun on a weekend usually after I get in if I have been out, so around midnight till about 2/3 ish and make about ?150.00 a week which does me fine, its a bit of fun and is getting my confidence up to get in front of a real camera.

Unless you havea 3 or 6 pin firewire connector on your pc/laptop then you will not be able to use your camcorder as a web cam.

The best thing to do is to purchase either a manufacturers (camcorder) firewire to USB cable or add internal card:
