Help Needed! Building a Website?!

Hi Everyone,

I want to set up my own pay per view website but I know nothing about building websites! lol

Can anyone recommend any useful books, software or websites?

I've checked out amazon and found a software program called mr site takeaway website pro. Has anyone used it? Anyone know if it can be used to build an adult website?

Which website is the best one to use for billing?
I know that I couldn't use PayPal as it would be an adult website.

What type of scenes are most popular at the moment?

I cant decide weather to do a teen looking site as I look young or an extreme site as I love extreme work! lol

Any help would be great :)

Thanks, Paradise Summers x

There have been a few recent posts making offers on here recently Paradise one of them is:

I not recommending them in anyway but if you search you'll find them and others.

Cenobitez is one of the web designer chaps who often gives good advice on the subject so asking him may also help.

I have a contact who could knock you up a basic (but good looking site) for 2 or 3 hundred ?. He has done model sites before. However, if you start wanting anything different than it starts to cost.

Personally, I'd say there is no quick and easy way of starting a site.... and a slow return at the start. It takes a lot of effort! Learning the software, graphics, and being able to update every week. Then there is the time advertising it. No good having a site if nobody knows it's out there.

Dreamweaver CS3 is one industry standard web software. The basics "I think" are easy but to use it's power takes time. Microsoft Web Expression is another, use to be Frontpage but I've not used it for years. Personally, any web software that costs ?30 is most likely "crap". But could be wrong!

You will need a webhost that accepts adult matterial, eg www.servage.net but there are others.

Billing .... verotel, ccbill.

If you want some more advice drop me a line and I'll help.

All the best

AM

You wouldn't expect a short fat middle aged web designer to be a great model overnight and be successful so on the other side of the coin, you shouldn't be able to do their job overnight and become successful. I've learned this from experience paradise. Find someone who already knows what they are doing, are successful at it and let them handle that while you do what you do best.
!happy!

Hi,

Is this "I want a website" or "I want to build a website for me as a way of learning how to do it for when I stop modelling"?

If the first:-

Hire someone - see whose done other models sites that you like and get them to quote.

What you want is a CMS (Content Management System) based site for ease of uploading new pics, video, products (shop). That way once built you don't need to pay the designer again until you want to make big changes.

Your big effort is in marketing (where most people fall over. Serious people spend hours every day on promotion).

If the second:-

HTML, CSS, MySQL and php, plus CMS like JOOMLA or Drupal are all things you can look forward to getting to grips with to some degree on the site does stuff front, and graphic packages and Flash on the design front. (Most people tend to be good at function OR good at design, but not both. )

Cheers

Professional designers who offer customised none template/basic bespoke site with a decent cms that aint wordpress / joomla or something thats totally inappropriate for a graphic based website will start at ?1000+.

However companys like use pre-built setups and basic packages, they also have their own hosting company as a back end. There are several more like that, but you get what you pay for in the end.

However they are a set number of pages and charge extra for more, and then charge extra for a CMS etc.

There isnt realistically a CMS that is remotely capable of handling 100mb+ videos, its an FTP job so you need to learn now to use FTP as well/

You also need to remember that adding extra's to most CMS's can be messy, and even the initial plumbing in can be messy too.

If database changes are made in a sloppy way you whole database is at risk not to mention your site, so you need someone who is capable to do that.

The biggest issue I see and hear about all the time is models trying to sell images / content that they don't have the right to and the copyright owner issuing proceedings.

Remember just because the photographer/videoographer says you can use x to promote yourself doesnt mean they are going to allow you to sell it, so be sure you own or have in writing permission.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Basic costs for a video/photo based sites hosting is going to be ?100+ a year BASIC, a chap I know used dreamhosts and they asked him to move coz he was overloading their 750gb bandwidth, even tho he was only ising 400+ he was using excessive resources.

Average hourly rate for a graphic designer is ?65 an hour, average rate for a basic web monkey is ?25+ an hour, a php coder ?40+, so if someone is offering to do a paysite with potentially 20 basic pages including multiple landing pages, tour pages (regularly updated), 2257 pages, contact pages, and model/gallery pages, basic search engine optimised and handle affiliates for a few hundred quid, good luck, your going to need it.

Hi,
Thanks to everyone who posted and emailed me with help and suggestions :)

I didn't realize just have much hard work goes into building an adult website!

I am going ahead with a website but I'm not going to be building it myself.

Rich who runs and me are going to be doing the website together. Rich is going to bulid and shoot for the website. So i don't have to learn about coding or anything like that! lol

I've decided on an extreme theme for the website rather than a teen theme, so lots of hard fucking, extreme g/g, anal, pissing and dp ;)

Thanks, Paradise Summers x x x
