Results of Mondays meeting with Andy Cooke

Please note: This is more of interest to webmasters and producers in the industry (non members of UKAP)

The rest of you normal pleasure seekers of porno may find this...frankly, dull.

I hope this clarifys what is going on and you can all sleep well in your beds tonight safe in the knowledge you wont get a rude awakening by her majestys finest storm troopers at the ungodly hour of 6 in the morning.

I'm not so sure, maybe all the punters out there should be very interested. I am interested to know whether the fact that a bunch of do-gooders has pawed through all the material on UK based websites websites and given them the, "OK, folks now you can watch"" will affect customers' viewing pleasure or not?

Its a disclaimer Jim.

Some people may be put off that there are no car chases and explosions or tits and ass.

Its not all fun and games in this producing racket. Sometimes we have to take care of business with our trousers on...believe it or not.

You may well be right Jim but I think it will scare people off about the criminalisation of possessing extreme porn.

Corpse fucking lovers ....Beware!

It's a money making scheme for the BBFC.
The BBFC is not here to 'police' the internet.
The BBFC are interesting in the people who want to make the big money.

Big companies with big bucks
Big companies/content suppliers pay the BBFC to have their own hands cut off.

What a strange system.

thank god it snot the law to have this, I have 5 years experience in the industry but my site has only been up since feb so for me I need to make back my investment before I sign up to anything. If it was the law like it is to release dvds in the Uk I would be for the moment totally stuck.

The models who wish to work with me and the ones I have worked with are fantastic people and although my site is doing really really well I still have a traget I want to hit, and when that happens I will look it dvd releasing but for now online content is best for me and at least now I can carry on as normal.

What questions didn't you ask him?

I thought the observations that you said that webmasters thought the scheme was 'sneaky' wasn't really got into. You didn't really explain why webmasters thought the BBFC scheme was sneaky.

There is material that seems to be in limbo land, like watersports, it's not R18 and it's not extreme pornography.

If I was the BBFC I'd make it compulsory. Are they stupid or something, think of all the lovely dosh they can extract from those dirty pornographers - and it's all legal!

Hi Joe

If you listened to the interview, the BBFC made it clear that they are not a government appointed organisation at all.

More like an organisation that is funded by the various media to "keep its own house in order"

If it was ordained by the government we wouldnt have porn at all.

Honestly its better that the BBFC are there than not.

I think Andy knew full well what I meant with the sneak attack thing as it was suggested at an earlier meeting that this was more of a stealth tax which they explained that they , the BBFC are not a profit making organisation per se.

Some peeing has got through R18 but its simply not on anyone and does not contravene the obscene publications act which the BBFC likes to work within the realms of the law on that issue.

With regards to making all that lovely dosh from us dirty pornographers...alas it is a dropin the ocean when you are dealing with more main stream companies.

In fact it costs the BBFC more money to look at R18 content compared to 18 cert and under because it takes two people as opposed to the one to watch it....(ha ha I know what you are thinking but its not like that)

Thank you for the aknowledgment Paul. I felt duty bound to allay the fears and misunderstanding of those in the business with regards to this issue as it was best for the industry to hear it fromthe hoprses mouth than read another article from someone that always leaves questions unanswered.

I'm sure some people may have questions they need answers to which is why I gave it plenty of time to ask around..I did this on the beer and bollocks forum as I feewl that was where this was most relevant.

To all those who contributed I owe thanks to also.

'If you listened to the interview, the BBFC made it clear that they are not a government appointed organisation at all.'

Well, I think that bit's wrong.
The government appoints a body to regulate. They are government appointed.
