Afiliates?

Okay - feel free to shoot me down in flames and laugh at me or whatever.
Basically I am a classically trained 'togger who happens to run a website. Therefore my expertise is situated in the creative side and not the technical and this is why I'm about to ask some damn fool questions.
I am interested in some affiliates for my main website but I'm new to the affiliate thing. I have put some backroom stuff in place that my one affiliate is happy with but I am interested in knowing what other affiliates would be wanting me to do in order to have them promote us.
In the past I've been put off by people making - quite frankly - preposterous requests for me to do all manner of work for them first or insist on taking anything up to 80% of the sales even!
Basically I set aside promo images for each update in a pass-protected area. I make banners etc regularly... and offer 50% for the life of any membership.
What more should I do?
Or are affiliates going to be okay with this?
Bear in mind, I if I spend my time doing lots of other things or having to learn the affiliate's job then 2 things might happen.
1. I may decide I don't need affiliates, (the site pays the rent already - I'd just like it to do more).
2. I won't have as much time to give to the site - and this is what the punters actually pay for.
Anyone who is interested already can go here:
And my visitor:join ratio at the moment based on February's stats are 280:1
