Webhosting Advice for my new website

Finally, I'm getting all my scenes ready for my website!

I know there's another post on here about this matter. So i want to be specific about my individual needs.

I plan on launching the website with about 12 scenes all encoded to HD WMV files of about 1.3 gbt along with a Flash trailer.

I will then upload 2 scenes a month split into 4 weeks so a total of about 3 gig of material per month to be uploaded thereafter.

Obviously each scene has pics with it.

Can anyone suggest a host that could accomodate this volume of material, reliably and affordably?

And how do you calculate what you need from a host?

I'm so confused! !confused!

Hey Lara,

I'd be more concerned about the time it would take to upload the initial 20gb and 3gb a month than the hosting costs. I used a UK host which I can get physical access to the server for this, so its just a case of plugging an external drive into the it and off I go.

I'd consider dreamhost.com as a cheap option, I have something a similar size on there, but your going to need to up your hosting costs in time anyway, as you really do get what you pay for.

Lots of the US contract girls and big names use http://www.reliablehosting.com/ so maybe worth a look.

Hi all,

Thanks for your help and advice. I'm looking into it all and was looking at a dedicated server. So much for an easy Easter weekend! !wink!

Thanks rgb, think i know who you're on about, but he wants too many cups of tea in return. No seriously, he doesn't too much in-depth details of the server side of things, so that's why I was asking. I'll email you tomorrow rgb after i've watched some crap telly and gorge on some more Easter eggs and get Jim to take his bunny outfit off !laugh!
