Look, everything is falling down about our ears and many people are genuinely wondering where the next paycheque is gonna come from so are we all that's left?
Is this an opportunity for those of us who are really business-minded to clean up?
I mean - financial difficulties are the mainstay of separation and divorce (far above marital unfaithfulness) so what we have is a societal shift from affluent couples to skint singles. The women are likely to keep the children (I make no comment about this as it is a discussion for another time and place) so we will soon have a nation of single men in small flats with no children or partner to give their time to. They will have limited finances and therefore spend lots of time alone.
It is true to say that the poor will always find money for their drugs - as with the destitute in Covent Garden 100+ years ago who even sold their children for gin and laudanum.
So now the poor still afford their beer and cigs and of course their sex/porn.
I believe that it's fair to say that very soon there will be an increase of lonely male surfers looking for affordable, quality porn and that anyone who recognizes this fact and can maximize on it will gain a serious foothold for the future.
Flash-in-the-pan merchants may do okay but long-term investors will, I think, be able to turn their (perhaps) small businesses into household names...

...or at least - bedsit names.

No. Parking fines, tax and insurance seem to be the main stay of british business and they are doing well.

Tescos, sainsburys and everywhere you need to buy food to eat are doing well. Fast food joints are booming (you cant torrent food yet)

I agree..we have been looking into this ourselves as like you say there are a big chunk of people displaced from their normal day to day activities hence a wide hole to fill, Give people what they want for a affordable price & the market once more becomes big.
Our stuff as always been like the blue & white stripped supermarket goods you get (value wise not food lol) where we offer lots of good sex at an affordable price,
the quality is not HD but its real & unlike most porn stars anyone can ring Kim 9am-9pm Monday to saturday which makes it more personnal.
Again due to the credit crunch lots of amateur girls are doing content share to keep their Adult Work & Clips for sale sites going which can be a pain sometimes for me to do them a free 5 page site, edited footage,photos etc when they need it on the quick but it keeps us supplied with a network of people to work with whilst times are lean.
Porn will always survive but like i said to a guy the other day who was starting as an amateur producer, start how you can afford, don't buy expensive camera gear & don't book lots off big money venues & weed your way into the industry gently as lots of big companies will fall in the next couple of years making way for newbys just like it did for us years ago.
Make people porn taking lots of housewives views into account as they are a market the industry don't look at usually & your halfway there.

What do you mean by 'taking lots of housewives views into account'? I was wondering how to get women interested in porn because generally they are not stimulated in that way and I do mean only in general!
I for one am keen to make a load of money out of this business and I'll continue to take all the advice I can get!!

I totally agree with your point about doing what you can afford and think that if you gave someone that advice then you certainly know what you're talking about. This is exactly what I did.
I came out of the business a few years ago after running a website that did fairly well. We were doing the amateur girl-next-door, slut stuff with a gorgeous 19 year-old blondie with massive tits and a slim body. Unfortunately the time wasn't right for the British market and we couldn't sustain the updates long enough to keep going and so we pulled it.
After a break I changed my business model and set to work on doing things on a shoestring budget - basically nothing more than a cheap camera, a computer and a good deal of sales patter (to find new models).
I am so happy with how things are shaping up with the market, the traffic, the models I am working with (you've only seen a couple of them so far) etc. that I'm now selling my house (the one I don't live in) to expand the business. I'm not trying to take on the world, just make a living and it can be done from scratch with pretty much bugger-all!

As well as making movies we are swingers so we meet lots of ladies / couples 30yrs+ from sites like Local Swingers where we have large feedback etc, we always chat to the ladies & ask what they like because most guys watch porn on the sly so to get the lady interested you include their input.

If a lady watches a naughty sex scene & the girl in the film is average build, stretch marks etc what most mature women have the women at home are more inclined to allow their hubby to watch it as its no threat to them unlike a beautiful barbie doll. Same for the bloke if he is watching a guy with a bit of a belly he can imagine that could be him.
We used to advertise for people in the Loot many years ago long before the internet & it was hard but now people come to us mainly through word of mouth on swinging sites, we'll never be rich while we have an hole in our arse but we live the life we film & we make films because we really do enjoy it.
Remember Matt you can get the same returns from a film if it costs you ?300 or ?3000 as long as you find the right audience so feel your feet & enjoy yourself mate, to many are serious & it shows on their films so relax & be creative.

I'm afraid to say that, "We're all doomed!", if porn was doing well it's growth would have matched the huge increase in the use of broadband, when in fact if you were to draw a graph you would see that the porn industry is shrinking in an inverse proportion to the growth of broadband.

I know that certainly in Europe sites are being consolidated and shut down all the time.

It's no one's fault, just simply, watching people shag is getting less and less interesting to the general population, well at least to those who hold credit cards. Sexual imagery is everywhere and it's free.

Look at BGAFD for example. 5 years ago a post would be off the page within hours, now a post will linger for days. Peole are drifting off to other pursuits.

Now is a good time to do something interesting, so you can grab your own little chunk of the paying porn consumer.

Well without sounding too negative I have to totally agree with Jim,whether you agree or not he has injected a large dose of reality and that little known commodity "common sense" .Needless to say i still wish anyone good luck who ventures down this road.
