Hi Terry
The best & easiest way to convert AVCHD is with Pinnacle 14, it does what it says on the tin. It takes about 70 mins to convert 40 mins of footage, we shoot at full 1080p & then edit & save it in AVCHD 1080p / 1080i & MPEG2 1080p / 720p.
Also try ImToo AVCHD converter as it rips to AVI & almost every other format in minutes keeping the footage non jittery & crystal clear.
We look forward to seeing some of the Venus footage, glad you guys had a great time.

Mate of mine had such a good time when he went a few years ago he died getting off the plane on the way back. Mind you, his doctor had told him not to travel especially by air.
