Hi all,
Just read this from XBIZ about the HIV shutdown in the States. It seems the big companies are resuming production after AIM has tested all those who had worked with the infected performer and found them all negative. !happy!

If this system can pick up a result only a month after contamination why are we not using it here in the uk?
At present it takes 3 months after contamination before a positive result will be picked up with our present testing system,

sorry but until someone can explain this system to me i will still be refusing to work with anyone who has been in the states between july 2010 and january 2011 (3 months before & after this infection was discovered).

If anyone has been out in the states and has actual facts on this system - then please email me on tanyacox@live.com or even better post details on here......

im hearing very different stories about the reliability of this system and the amount of performers that have been affected which are very confusing but obviously alot of it is guess work as those of us who haven't been don't really understand how you can bi-pass the incubation period or how the system works.

Hi Tanya,

I agree with you on this.

The testing they use I believe is the DNA PCR Test. This is supposed to detect HIV antibodies in the DNA itself and can detect them from 10 to 28 days after infection. Apparently they don't use it much is because it can give 'false positives' and needs a second type of standard test to confirm the result.

I am no expert so if somebody who is medically qualified could enlighten us I would appreciate it.

I did find this if it helps;

Meanwhile as you say Tanya you can't be too careful, better safe than sorry!

Hey Guys

Ok this is something I too dont understand, but whilst going for my most recent tests I got chatting to the doctor (at Frimley Hospital) about this outbreak and he said to me that the tests they do at their hospital also pick up results after 4 weeks?! I am assuming that he was talking about other infections and not HIV but will clarify when I am back there again this week and see if I can get any further info xx
