Is this a bit odd?

Hi guys, could I please lean on your goodwill again to get some opinions on this?

I have been contacted by a local model who is content to do a reduced fee solo toy shoot if I book a hotel and then she can use it afterwards.
I don't know her at all, not worked with her and not seen her on here at all.

If I book a hotel which I haven't done before (not sure about the legality etc and it has just never come up before). If I book the hotel, we do the shoot and then I leave, this model could potentially trash the room during a coke fuelled escort extravaganza and my name is on the reservation.

She is adamant (no not Adam Ant although I am partial to a bit of Stand and Deliver) that she won't book the room and let me just p[ay for it.

Should I be concerned do you think? I feel uneasy about it to be honest.

I would really appreciate your thoughts and input on this one. Hope you are all ok, take care over the silly season.

Ask her to make the reservation in her name, then re-imburse her for the room when you two meet up.

If she refuses to do that, then tell her you she's a little bit odd....and walk away.

Yep, damages will be billed to your credit card. They will attempt to recover any losses through you, not her.

She probably just wants to squeeze a night in a hotel for her and her boyfriend out of you, but I'd just pay her the cost of the room and tell her to book it if I really wanted to shoot her.

Yes, I agree with the others - get her to make the reservation in her name and you just pay for it. If she won't agree to this then there is a reason for it - probably a dodgy one!

Hi,
I would not be happy doing this. If you must book hotel to do the shoot then tell her that once shoot is over she must leave, or like suggested get her to book it in her name. It's your reputation at risk, not hers.

I'm a firm believer in if it don't feel right don't do it.

Does this model have a checkable profile with referances?

If you can't find anyone who can vouch for her then leave well alone, better to be safe than sorry.

This is just my opinion.

I'm with all of the above. If she wont be responsible for putting the room in her name, then why should she be responsible for the room itself after the shoot?
Its asking for trouble in my opinion.

But just out of interest... What kinda hotel is it?

A really nice one, with a fancy room, and room service and all the trimmings, or a 'travel lodge' style ?29.99 a night jobby, which will just serve as a room to shoot in?

Also, without sounding funny, there is always a third, more preferable solution. Pay her the normal (non reduced) rate for the shoot, then just check out, or if its a nice hotel, stay yourself...

I'm assuming that you want to save money with the reduced rate, and thats fair enough. But at the same time, how much could that reduced rate cost you, if you leave her in the room?

Dont risk it, and this is advice from someone who has flooded out a good few hotel rooms in my time, and have always had them in my name LOL

If she won't put the room in her name then don't bother. It'll be your card details they have and if the place gets trashed they won't care that it wasn't you. Your booking, your responsibility. On top of that, room service.......?

Smells pretty dirty to me.....

Yeah, it seems a resounding answer from all of you, thanks a lot :)
I was pretty sure I wouldn't do it but now I am sure.
Thanks very much to all of you for putting your thoughts across, I really appreciate you taking the time :)

Hi Matty!

I've done this quite a few times, as I live in the North East and will work all over the country it makes sense to book a hotel room, where the shoot can be done too.

All tog's have been great, and on most occasions they have covered the cost of the room (usually 2 nights, as you don't want to be thinking you've got to be out by 10.00 or can't book in till 15.00) you get the whole day to shoot if 2 nights booked

But, always it has been booked in my name !!!
